More D&G changes on VOSA from 1 September 2026. It appears the 8 in Crewe will be split into 2 separate services which could be interesting how that occurs.
New:
8 Crewe - Wistaston Green Road
15 Crewe - Crewe
19 (19A) - Macclesfield - Parkhouse Drive, Prestbury
Cancellation:
8 Wistaston -...
D&G have applied to vary route 49 from 1 September now too
Good to see W7 integrate with the 37 - and sounds like Winsford-Sandbach increasing to half-hourly on Saturdays too. Hopefully it'll improve patronage and not require a subsidy after a year.
According to VOSA, the following changes are happening from 1 September 2026 (I don't have more details than this at present):
New Services:
20 Shrewsbury - Bank Farm Road
23 Shrewsbury - Crowmere Road
26 Shrewsbury - Adswood Grove
64 Shrewsbury - Market Drayton
301 Market Drayton Circular
558...
A concern of the proposed Manchester - London St Pancras service, is that it means any potential for a second hourly stopping service between Manchester and Macclesfield would be removed. This is a popular commuter route which was meant to be introduced in 2018 but alas is still has not...
Re Manchester - St Pancras - surely using the chord south of Derby and not serving Derby would speed up journey times and have less revenue abstraction given the lack of direct services from Leicester to the North West?
18 Hanley - Leek
We operate this service on behalf of Staffordshire County Council and following contract renewal, Stantons of Stoke will be operating this service from Monday 29th June 2026.
Last day of service for D&G Bus will be Sunday 28th June.
Wonder how they will be operated - thats a...
Penkridge - Crewe will depart at xx:02 (arrives Crewe at xx:30) and xx:34 (arrives Crewe at xx:24)
Crewe - Penkridge will depart at xx:19 (arrives Penkridge at xx:44) and xx:50 (arrives Penkridge at xx:39) - so just a 6 minute gap between Birmingham services

CrossCountry (further changes likely but), the weekday chanages appear to include:
0511/1125/1425/1725 Manchester Piccadilly - Bournemouth not loaded
1027 Plymouth - Edinburgh appears to be converted to a 1027 Plymouth - Manchester Piccadilly
1045 Bournemouth - Manchester Piccadilly appears to...
Mentioned earlier that LNWR will be extending Crewe - Stafford, to Birmingham New Street. Penkridge will only be served on Sunday (giving Penkridge 2 trains an hour each way on Sundays), other days the service will run fast between Stafford and Wolverhampton
Avanti additions (weekdays):
1205 London Euston - Liverpool Lime Street (replacing London Euston - Crewe)
1407 London Euston - Liverpool Lime Street
1505 Liverpool Lime Street - London Euston
1705 Liverpool Lime Street - London Euston
1929 Chester - London Euston
There are minor timing changes...
LNWR Crewe - Stafford (via Stoke) appears to be extended to Birmingham New Street, calling additionally at Penkridge, Wolverhampton, Willenhall, Darlaston, Tame Bridge Parkway and Birmingham New Street

Does appear to be only 2-hourly - which is a similar total number of journeys to...
Also appears to be some gaps in the CrossCountry Manchester Piccadilly - Bournemouth provision (for instance southbound services at 1125, 1425 and 1725 are missing)
Interestingly Rail Record shows 2 trains an hour with Northern between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly (same as today), even though LNWR are suggested to be taking the Manchester Airport path to run a Manchester Airport - Birmingham New Street service
This would be good - wonder what agreement they've reached over level crossings on the route. It would also mean a significant increase between Crewe and Stoke on Sunday mornings which will be beneficial.
Another alteration consistently rumoured is LNWR extending the current Crewe - Stoke -...
Elizabeth Line appears to have applied to increase its Paddington - Whitechapel core section from 24 trains per hour to 28tph from May 2027 at peak times (07:30hrs – 09:30hrs and 16:30hrs–18:30hrs)...
Liverpool & South Wales Railway have revised their planned track access application Liverpool - Cardiff route from December 2026. Now to operate via Crewe Independent Lines instead of Chester/Wrexham unless capacity improves. Sunday services also appear to call at Nantwich. Crewe does not get...
