Now this is a proper train, transpennine is an intercity operator at last!
I can’t believe how hard it is to tell that there has been a switch between electric and diesel on board.
Not sure who decided that tip down luggage racks in the bike storage was a good idea, I hope the conductors...
Will the single width doors really make that much of a difference? I find that when it’s busy people on the platform barely leave a one person wide gap to get off and suitcases normally take up some (and sometimes all) of the width of the doors on the 185s
A Nova 1 (unliveried) just came through Huddersfield (https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O43404/2019/09/27/advanced).
Can’t believe how quiet it was in diesel mode.
Do the following commitments to stations between Stalybridge and Huddersfield tell us anything new about TPEs December changes?

Apparently this came ‘out of the blue’, think they haven’t been reading this thread.
It also reads as if there will be 5 years of continuous replacement coaches, is this right or will it actually...
With the delays to the 769s and the requirement to remove the Pacers etc at the end of the year is the course now set for another chaotic period around the New Year? Also even if these and the new stock come into service before then will the training period be compressed taking staff away from...
As the new TPE Smart season tickets don’t come with a photo card what is stopping anyone using it? Is this now allowed or would it still be against the terms of use?
TPE now have a process for transferring Season Tickets with a long time of validity left onto their smartcard. Up until recently you could only get a new replacement on their smartcard. You have to do it at the the ticket office you bought from and it is a very manual process where they write...
This morning I got a Class 319 from Manchester Victoria to Salford Crescent.
I tried looking for the bicycle spaces but could only see the stickers for the wheelchair space so I asked Northern on twitter if there should be any.

Maybe only 4-6 seats but would improve amount of standing area and mean people would use more doors. I avoid even trying Coach A as I know I will end up pressed against the 1st class glass door or leaning across a suitcase.
Would things be improved if the following were done?
- regular airport shuttle service using existing medium distance services (e.g Manchester Airport to Liverpool) and new Chord services mentioned below.
- No TPEs direct to airport but keeping airport advanced tickets from their destinations...
Sorry I meant for other classes of train, given the lengths gone to with these trains to have special training for guards how can other trains have no guards at all?
I don't want to start a debate about no guards just wanted to know what the official justification is.
Does anyone know what the procedure is when a train hits something/someone for the guard checking that the driver is ok? It occurred to me that this would be harder when the Class 68 is pulling the Mk5s as there is no way between the coaches and the loco.
I remember a few years ago on a train...
