Its changed so that you can reserve effectively any seat (with a display) through all the usual retail channels up to 10 mins beforehand.
Coach F is also no longer unreserved - so the number of unreserved seats on a four-car set is extremely limited.
TPE are significantly better than they used to be as the timetable was reduced down to a manageable level while they addressed staffing issues. 3/4hr gaps in service used to be normal on Newcastle-Liverpool but from experience, almost everything runs as intended now.
I can't remember ever encountering a TVM that would do both PKPIC and Polregio stuff. Everyone seems to do their own thing. I can recall doing a wild goose chase around Kraków Główny early last year trying to find a machine that would do tickets for the services operated by Koleje Małopolskie...
For the most part you'll find that guards are pretty understanding and will either say yes or will have a good reason as to why can't let you on.
The last time I asked a Northern guard if I could use an earlier train he walked with me to the RPIs on board and explained to them that I was good...
I think the problem with printing validity is that on some tickets (eg. a Global interrail) you'd need a full booklet stapled to it as there's so much to cover. The app might be easier - perhaps you could flick across from the barcode and be presented with a (admittedly) long list.
As you've...
Interestingly, I used an Interrail at Tottenham Court Road on Thursday with no issues. I just asked to be let through to use the Elizabeth Line. I mistakenly assumed this meant that staff knew what they were doing!
For reference, there's also an FOI request on the TfL site which is explicit...
Made the mistake of travelling from Horb to Freiburg (Briesgau) this morning while a Stuttgart vs Freiburg football match is on.
Horb to Rottweil was an IC (that functions as an RE to Singen/Schaffhausen) and it was so busy that I ended up sat in the luggage rack in First Class (with a First...
I took the 0630 Newcastle to York yesterday and it was drinks and food orders after Durham which arrived just before Darlington - there was another run after Darlo (plus food orders) too which was decent going.
I had the pancakes with bacon which for a 'Dish' menu item was actually really...
Certainly GB, for all its faults, does (reasonably) level boarding, accessibility and staffing well compared to many other countries. Safety is definitely higher up the agenda, too.
Sweden in particular (away from a few key hubs) is horrendous if you need any help. I once rocked up to Haparanda...
I travelled on the 0744 York-Sheffield today and there was one catering trolley in A and another in G.
I still went to A to be safe - where the offering was biscuits, crisps, juice or tea/coffee. Bacon rolls also available but they're still like this weird open secret where you have to know...
Thanks @DanielB. I've messaged De Lijn on Twitter and they've advised "when you cross the border you buy the other ticket".
Which sounds a bit of a farce. But if I choose to go this way (pondering travelling Vlissingen - Breskens - Brugge - Brussels) I suppose I'll just see what everyone else...
Hello all,
Just a quick question about this bus route - which links Breskens (NL) with Brugge (BE).
The De Lijn website states that two tariffs apply - so if you're travelling between the two countries, there are two different readers:
So, if I'm understanding this correctly, if I was to...
It's a stretch (as I don't know how long ago this was) but the 360s do announce themselves as the "Luton Airport Express to Luton Airport Parkway" (followed by saying they're a service to Corby). So, if they'd heard the first part then proceeded to zone out...
However, you'd have thought that...
