    World Cup 2026

I was hopeful the FA wouldn't appeal and just leave it. Don't follow in their footsteps.

    Embarrassing.

    World Cup 2026

Agreed, not going to be easy but certainly sat here thinking it is a winnable game. Couldn't possibly bring myself to stay up knowing my 1 year old would wake me pre 6am. But a great thing to wake up to.

Conwy Valley Line - Time to say good bye?

Or just a key transport route, i.e. if you cant provide the rail service due to 8 miles washing out and it being uneconomical, you have to provide alternatives.

A48 Lydney closed due to unsafe rail crossing

And with many heritage railways, actually their interaction with public rights of way isn't as clear cut as on NR, it may be the Dean Forest Railways responsibility to maintain the crossing plates, but equally as likely it is the councils.

The Labour Party under Andy Burnham

Not just that, but he surely is not going to win that many votes (at a national level for a GE) for that to be a vote winner? And like you say, just being seen as him benefiting his old mayoral stomping ground over others.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I suspect there may be some disruption (lower opening speeds) following the track renewal with the heat as well.

Darlington: use of the trainshed after the improvements

They stopped in a sensible place before the new platform so i see no reason they won't be doing now.

Could the railway do better during Huddersfield blockades ?

Certainly the plan is that all of them are 4-6 cars. And on weekends they've achieved this it's not been too bad at all and I've been impressed with TPE picking up local services to give northern more units. Seems here the plan was reasonable, the short forming was the issue.

    KWVR NEWS AND UPDATES

Yes the group booking was what can only be described as a balls up (I used stronger words!!!) and will hopefully not happen again. We were left under no illusion as to what passengers thought of us. Wristbands are easier to police ticketless travel on busy days and follows their successful use...

    Rail usage

Ah okay. Hadn't noticed this year was worse than last but you're right. I wondered if reductions in large flows like Durham to Newcastle might impact total journeys but not revenue or passenger km.

    Rail usage

Is LNERs loss of passenger journeys a symptom of them massively reducing some of the local/regional flows? Assume their revenue hasn't also shrunk with the new timetable.

Assume it's to do with the braking system as it's been swapped specifically to work the air brakes set rather than vacuum.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I assume rustic aesthetic is not referring to garforth specifically!

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

There is a small gap around church Fenton awaiting the bridge renewal but yes that's correct. And Micklefield to just shy of Neville Hill is rapidly progressing now with all piles in and most masts up with progress greater towards the micklefield end.

ICE L instead of DSB Talgo on Hamburg-Copenhagen from 2028

I was talking in the context of improving the railways for all passengers so our frames of reference are different. Obviously if that's the only reason you travel that carries a lot more importance.

ICE L instead of DSB Talgo on Hamburg-Copenhagen from 2028

Not sure I agree. Loco haulage for the sake of loco haulage isn't a bonus if the coaches are crap!
