Thanks. It's been the usual for changing franchises to remove specific operator branding in recent times. I wonder why this was overlooked, missed, or concession given.

Not sure why it would be at the public's expense, after all it's VTEC that should be paying for the removal of their branding. They should have peeled off all the vinyl and left them in the base coat. If you can't see why some people would think that when they've used a traditional name then...

Quite a few of the 158s and 170s have had names over the years. BBC Scotland 75 Years, Scottish Claymores, Moir Lockhead, Riverside Museum amongst them.

The problem with Scotland is there's only Edinburgh and Glasgow. Naming, if it's going to be widespread, should be much more diverse, after all, there's the whole of the 385s to name after two cities.

They're not linking Edinburgh and Glasgow directly. These trains are about the Cities outside the Central Belt, and should be named after those, if they're going to name them at all.

711, and 712 were competitions on Radio Forth and Radio Clyde, ISTR. The rest of the original tranche were named without too much fanfare. Also, if I remember rightly, plates were made for 711 (William Wallace), but never fitted, or fitted and removed very soon after.

Yes, the first class with smoked glass, and dark colours was very much of it's time when it was new, and looked very stylish, to me anyway! Second class always looked very stark and functional.
