6023 really does look absolutely fantastic. Although I'm a distinctly "diesel" person, I love the Western Region and think that the Kings are a fascinating and truly awesome part of the region's history! Sorry to be a bit vague here but are there mainline aspirations for this loco? (I hope so!)

Glad all is progressing well! From the sound of things both Royal Oak and Fearless are at about the same stage of preservation right now - both receiving a considerable amount of bodywork TLC! And I'll just add another quick plug to this thread by saying that the book is excellent! :D

I was at the over bridge looking down on the depot today - 70001 is in exactly the same position as shown in dcd's photos, but there was no sign of 70003 or any other 70s for that matter! (I did however count nine 66s!)

I've got part of one of the last surviving number decals from 50017s LMS paint scheme. Half of one of the '7s' came off near intact, so I grabbed it! I know for a fact that the rest of the numbers came off in little pieces - so I think I've got something quite unique!

This is possibly one of my favourite galas to attend - there is always such a variety of locomotive power on offer! I notice that 50026 is expected to attend this year - hopefully it actually will this time around! Not that having 50135 last year was a bad thing - it was great to ride behind it...
