Nice. She's going very nicely as usual. So was Bob yesterday until wheel flats on a coach caused mischief.

Yes. 403 on the Carlisle starter. 425 on the other one. But you probably already know this given the time. I managed not to break anything this morning.

Only 2 coaches on loco and stock on the through platform in the Up direction. 3 if the driver pulls uncomfortably close to BY4 signal.

Update: Just heard that as of next week none of the drivers who are yet to learn 37s will be trained on them, on the basis that they're "definitely going in January" ... presumably to be replaced by 156s. So - get up here if you're dithering!

'Not ASLEF' and therefore utterly irrelevant to the post it's in reply to.

Northern's Problems in the North West

Are you saying that ASLEF are maintaining an equalisation record in the absence of a RDW agreement? Really?

Northern's Problems in the North West

Because if it's not regulated then two things are likely to happen: 1) The TOC will fail to fill driver positions and become reliant on RDW to run the basic timetable. A poor way to run an essential service. 2) The uncontrolled distribution of RDW will be unfair and/or corrupt.

Northern's Problems in the North West

O It can if the extra 1.45 hours means you can fit in two trips instead of one while route learning. We (Workington) run into this issue when we learn Barrow to Lancaster.

Northern's Problems in the North West

This has been confusing me too. Workington shouldn't be short of drivers, apart from the likes of me on annual leave all of last week and half of this. I'll try to find out on Friday when I'm back in. Don't forget that there's cross cover, so Workington dvrs could be covering Barrow work...

It wasn't an alleged fault on 68003. It was a fault on 68003. Even new kit plays up every now and again.

The 68 set is scheduled to be at Kingmoor tonight anyway, so it's in the right place for tomorrow morning. They'll either fix 003 or shove a different 68 on, I guess.

Should be ok. It's a quiet train after Millom.

A 68 just failed with a battery issue at Carlisle, meaning I'm now working the 1731BIFCAR with a single 153. Hurrah.

    Nope. All unit work.

Both afaik. Significant changes though in that most LHCS services will be limited stops, meaning they'll have sensible turnaround times at CAR and BIF. The result should be a much more robust timetable.

Not sure about Sellafield shifts, but that 0616 is the third Up train of the day, so there are decent options. I'm looking forward to proper Sunday jobs. The existing ones are looong and dulllll. Not so keen on taxi back from Carlisle on two Mon-Fri late jobs, but you can't win 'em all.
