34027 Taw Valley was repainted harry Potter red circa 2003 or thereabouts and 35005 Canadian Pacific was blue in the late 90's. Whilst in BR service they were all green.

142 004 was stabled with 142 090 on Newton Heath by the Rochdale line as I passed by on the 16:17 from Blackburn. 142 051 and partner also worked the 19:49 Pic to Sheffield.

Today 142 051 with 150 144 was working the 11:13 to Kirkby and return, 142 004 (with 150225) was on the 16:49 from Man Pic to Sheffield (and it was very smooth with no evidence of wheel flats !), 142 045 (with 150 218) was on the 17:49 to Sheffield and 142 058 was on Newton Heath in the morning...

Firstly on further inspection of my photos I think both cars on 058 have a grey roof. the angle and lighting made it look blue so sorry for that. However I hate to play devils advocate but the weathering idea would not really explain the cab roof on 061 as shown in the photo.

Sorry I need to correct myself I meant front panel not full roof although according to my photo collection it would seem that 142 058 has one car with a full blue roof and the other all grey. I wonder how this came about. Just for interest both cars of 45 are light blue instead of grey.

Interestingly 142 035 and 142 036 had a turquoise roof and front end panel at one end and grey at the other at the other. I must admit I hadn't noticed that there is some considerable variation in roof / front panel of the Northern pacers fleet beyond the obvious relating to the ex Merseyrail fleet.

For the record 142 035 with 156 428 was on the 16:49 Manchester to Sheffield, whilst the 17:49 was in the hands of 142 004 and 150 125. Does anyone know where 051 was lurking today ? 142 036 and 156 459 on the 16:49 Pic Sheffield. Just passed 150 224 and 142 011 at Hyde Central. I suspect they may form 17:49 to Sheffield but that is just my guess.
