There's already some scope for 2TPH to Hereford with the 4 Paddington services that arrive daily.
2TPH on the Worcester to Birmingham could be 1 via university and one via Camp Hill, retaining the direct train to UNI or a change at Bromsgrove or possibly Kings Norton (if that service then...
There's possibly not the space between Malvern and Ledbury? So with some shorter sections, when the Worcester area resignalling eventually happens are we more likely get an additional BHM each hour but only run as far as Great Malvern not Hereford?
This one is the daily route retention via Camp Hill (both ways) so there will also be paths to slot into at the busier north end of New Street.
On a separate note I'm all for additional services to Worcester and beyond however it was said on here years ago about the single track from Stoke...
It was mentioned on here ages ago that north bound XC can be offered and accept Camp Hill as a diversion even if they aren't booked that way as the journey times are similar and it avoids any congestion with the Cross City.
Correct, Malvern Wells, just before the signal box and start of the single line. It used to be that HST's had to use the single line to change ends, not sure if this is still the case with 9car IET's
There's a regular terminating service approx 1am each morning. Set goes ECS DOO to the...
Great Malvern does see a fair number of passengers and Malvern itself is larger than you think. There is now more uniformity to the service to GMV with it only being served by London or New Street trains. Only one service per day from Bristol in the evening now gets to GMV and all the Snow Hill...
It's a shame, they have a striking exterior design and look like a capable and comfortable train. I know that there was a franchise commitment to new rolling stock, however it feels like a deep clean and refurb of the 170's might have been a better option? It would have also given WMT a full...
I don't believe Bristol have any booked work via Abergavenny to Hereford anymore, the early morning ECS now runs via Gloucester and to Great Malvern only so they might have lost Hereford all together.
That's a shame.
What are the issues with 196's? I don't do Birmingham commutes as much as I used to buy from experiencing a couple a few weeks ago the interiors have not faired well in my opinion and there were numerous rattles from lots of panels.
They have run traction on the route previously that not all depots signed. There used to be a 170 +170 diagram and a 170+153 both confined to Worcester crews only.
Yes in the evening. Worcester GWR drivers sign to Malvern and down to Bristol with 165/166 being learnt, although that's not much good if a 158 appears like happened last Tuesday Wednesday and Friday.
I'm surprised they didn't cut them all to Foregate Street with everything turning at Henwick.
That's a shame. Many times on my commute to Brum we were diverted via Galton Bridge if there were issues via Bromsgrove.
Out of interest, I know there is one booked service via Camp Hill to BHM but can't see one back from BHM, do crews only sign it one way?
Platform 3 used to be used for the Gloucester shuttle in LM days and also for some West Country services that started at WOS. Once saw a turbo in there on a Cotswold service during disruption but that would be rare. Only the first carriage is on the platform and the guard would normally only...
I did see somewhere on here (ages ago) that northbound trains from Bristol towards BHM can accept whichever route is offered to them at Kings Norton, either Selly Oak or Camp Hill. Is this still the case?
Not on the X-City but not far from Birmingham my first house backed on to a railway line, slow speed with point work. I'd probably get max 8Tph, all diesel and as this was a while ago it was 150's, 180's, 170's, turbos, HST and the occasional 158. After about a month I had completely tuned out...
