All about the trains, what about the staff? Currently, maintenance staff currently working for the TOC get the benefits of a TOC, ie final salary pension, reduced price travel, etc. no doubt (like IEP) when staff go across to Siemens, that all goes. So the Government is happy about less people...
Add ContentRAIL UNION RMT revealed today that it has been officially notified of a rescue plan to bring in the publicly owned Directly Operated Railways to run the major Great Western franchise between London, Wales and the South West, fuelling speculation that talks on a contract extension with...
With reference to the the style of seats with regards to 'Euro Specs', I am curious as to why this seemingly doesn't apply to the day coaches on the Night Rivera or EMT HSTs? I assume it is to do with 'grandfather' rights? If you don't update, the orinals are fine?
The assessments are no different between mainline and depot. All you have to make sure is that you have a perfect driving record whilst depot driving, eg no spads, speeding etc. You can then move across.
I know a guy who works at OOC as a depot driver. He is transferring to mainline in September after being depot driver.

Don't think so. Some people don't want mainline work. The idea of hurtling along in thick fog at night at 125 mph doesn't appeal! ;-)
The 87's have gone to Europe so doesn't really matter. But with nearly 8000 hp available, they have been proven to be very reliable and powerful. So do need not be a stop gap, with some refurbished carriages.
TPE is not a stopping service , so dwell times or acceleration is not an issue. Having travelled on the 350's a lot i certainly wouldn't want to travel from Manchester to Scotland on them.
Milton Keynes to London is long enough. I'm sure it is not beyond our Engineering capacity to increase the...
Amazing. 110 mph between Manchester and Scotland. Whatever next? Hardly a technological achievement is it? Maybe for a suburban train it is. There were plenty of Class 87s and coaches available for the Scotland run. Instead of them being overhauled and sent to Europe. What a waste!
I will dig it out

Could the industry not just get the best mark 3's from FGW are refurbish them like DB have done for their Chiltern operations? Granted, engines will be required, but engines are going to be required for the sleepers at some point...
