    The oddity of Metrocar 4022

It’s a shame since 4022 was a proper kitted refurb and not just a makeover. Did it move from Bristol recently? You can’t see it from passing trains.

    The oddity of Metrocar 4022

Hello everyone. In March 2017, Metrocar 4022 derailed at the East End of Gosforth Depot. From my knowledge the driver had done a SPAD and the points switched underneath the Metrocar, completing bending the car at a 80-ish degree angle. The unit was sent to Bristol Barton Hill in June/July...

    T&W Metro facing "budget crisis"

I’m to assume the Metrocars not to return are 4022 and 4075, since one is in either Bristol or Derby and one is in depot being used for parts. What about 4021, will that come back eventually?

Tyne and Wear Metro Railhead Treatment Train

I think it does if it gets really bad there. Mostly trackworkers with sprays do the Shields branch though. Trains were slipping and burning all day today, wasn’t fun to work with them. Metrocar 4045 had it rough, it might be out for a while.

Tyne and Wear Metro: 4001, 4002, 4040 and 4083 Refurbishment

I was impressed myself when I saw the photos, quite a lot of work put in. It may be unrelated to 4001/02/40/83, but are there any confirmed photos of 4022’s move to Derby?

    T&W Metro facing "budget crisis"

Metro has been crumbling slowly for years. The age of the fleet and the insufficient timetable is one of the key factors in this.

Tyne and Wear Metro: 4001, 4002, 4040 and 4083 Refurbishment

Also, I think all “unrefurbished” units are to get new seating moquette, as seen here on 4083 during the visit.

Tyne and Wear Metro: 4001, 4002, 4040 and 4083 Refurbishment

Metrocar 4075 as seen on Friday (18th October). They are not my photos, my friend recently took a visit with college and kindly let me share these over. If anyone’s interested he’s got photos of 4001 undergoing refurb too.

    St James T&W Metro Station

There is a clear area where a third platform from the days of BR at Brockley Whins Metro was. At St James, there is provisions for a never-built, but planned, 2nd exit at Gallowgate End. Perhaps that's something to do with it having 3 platforms? I mean it would create less congestion as there...
