Open Rtn - Split overnight in London

As per normal you try it in the barrier at Victoria find it won't take it, you wave it at a member of staff stood on the barrier they let you through and no one is anymore the wiser, a guard checks the ticket on SE and they've got no reason to suspect otherwise that you started using it that...

Open Rtn - Split overnight in London

I intent to use an Off Peak Open Return from Canterbury East to Pitsea, no hassle on the outboard journey on the 4th June. The return will involve me coming back into London Fenchurch Street on 5th June, stay overnight and return home via London Victoria on the 6th June. I fear I could...

Confirmation on class 379 to Great Northern???

But of course they did, the DaFT put a bidding clause in that they had to update the rolling stock, either through multi million pound refurbs or just hand them back get a new ROSCO and have new trains. I wonder which one they chose?

    Fare Evasion Tramlink

Yeah, it's a common tactic of the RPIs, where they can they all get on at each individual door and catch as many as they can, the challenge is as they move an foot away from the door to sweep through customers they always manages to be one or two who slip out behind the RPIs, I've seen...

Confirmation on class 379 to Great Northern???

If they are that's fine, you get my point, sending them to Northern allowing them to use the capacity of the trains, maybe dare I say using their SDO capabilities running round as 8 car trains ultimately replacing older EMUs

Confirmation on class 379 to Great Northern???

I fully know that, I'm suggesting 319s running around Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester should be replaced by these 379s

Confirmation on class 379 to Great Northern???

I'm sure Northern customers would love to see them on electrified routes, but of course because there is a chance they might be needed down south they'll be put into warm storage and never get to see any action north of their birthplace

    Passengers thanking Drivers

As people say it's timing if you see the opportunity and the brain engages. I've found it easier to acknowledge the driver as he or she enters the platform if I'm jumping onboard a little nod or hand ✋️ to say good morning or whatever

    Replacement for the GWR 165/166s?

And this is the only downside with the flirts, that damn power car and lack of end corridor makes running them in multiples very daft and fixed formations restrictive in busy time...you can't win

    Replacement for the GWR 165/166s?

Whilst we're going all crayonista a complete set of tri-mode Stadler Flirts 4 or 5 car trains would be perfect, the 755s run well on both the current propulsion options currently and adding some 750dc shoes shouldn't be difficult (Maybe becoming a Class 765)

Class 377 Charing Cross - Ramsgate

There's a set or 2 based at Gillingham to do the Cannon St peak services as well but they do run the full length the Ramsgate via Maidstone East & Canterbury West

Please recommend stations in the west midlands.

The modernist buildings at University would be cool

Access from National Rail to the Underground

Again it's all about a perceived difference at LBG with the stairs and escalators moved towards the middle at the SE/TL platforms the distance from the bottom of the stairs to the lovely tombs corridor towards the toilets and the tube is further.

Are Class 700’s really that bad?

It's bamboozles me that a nearly 27 year old train running on a similar design as the much despised Networkers can achieve such nostalgic rose tinted glasses love? I'm sure the 700s have massively increased capacity, reliability (of rolling stock), added air con and shortened journey times...

Are Class 700’s really that bad?

Some 700s have been fitted with seat back tables, but still dont have large enough leg pitch for anyone 6ft tall or wide enough for anyone over 14st add in the lack of cushioning, resulting in me only using std class when I can't get into the declassified 1st Class at the rear of the trains...

How do you enforce pick up and set down only?

Set down only on late night trains are dangerous to rely upon in the South Eastern area, everytime I catch the last train London Vic to Dover Priory the guard does the standard dance as the train departs Faversham and starts walking the carriages asking passenger where they are disembarking...

    HS2-HS1 on foot

Could a cut and cover gently sloping subway walkway to avoid lifts and escalators be created under Brill Pl, properly lit wide and fully integrated into the 2 stations with CCTV etc... a bit like the walkways around King's Cross St Pancras Underground Station. Like from the SE platforms to the...

When carriage lights fail at night…

Have the rules changed or were Wrexham & Shropshire railway (the Open Access Operator) a bunch of cowboys? I travelled on a "Diverted" service from Smethwick Galton Bridge (Low Level) via Birmingham New St (Non Stopping) to London Maylebone with no lights on a MK3 carriage with a failed battery...

Cities and large towns that should have a tram, light rail and/or metro system

It seems the ridership thins out as you get towards New Addington, it's not a crazy thing to suggest better connectivity in a very barren area for rail but the terrain between New Addington and Biggin Hill is very challenging, there are a number of issues of the green belt developed when...
