It wasnt Sean English, I have seen him a few times at York. He was in a suit but with a Grand Central tie, he was doing all sorts on the train at one point he served me on the buffet car, he then got off at Thirsk.

well i finally got round to traveling on Grand Central today, did the 12:30 run from Sunderland to Kings X, although the service was running a little late i was very impressed with the service, the staff are still a little ropey at making the announcements on board but its still early days yet...

one of my pet hates is people playing music, dvd's etc with out headphones and also i hate hate hate it when people play music stupidly loud through headphones. I am always very conscious of this when I listen to music whilst traveling and even spent good money on a good pair of noise canceling...

Grand Centrals use of hst's were a great choice i think, i was very disappointed when Virgin dropped their HST's. To quote Pete Waterman - "For me you can keep your Eurostar's and Tgv's, they're the best train ever built"

I travel quite frequently on xc voyagers from bristol to newcastle and i must say the signal is pretty bad too, to the point of which i had buy a second hand nokia 6310 and put a vodafone payg sim in it, works perfect all the way!

i was on a nxec service from newcastle to kings x a couple of days after they took over and the speed was painfully slow and there wasnt even that many people on the train

i think they still need to advertise that the wifi is free, i.e having free wifi stickers on windows, not everyone will realise that the the train have wifi and that it is free
