    In the 60s the ferries were so busy on Summer Saturdays that people taking the shuttle from Esplanade alighted at Pier Head and then had to walk half way back down the pier to reach the end of the queue!

    Station Road, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, is more than half a mile from the present station. It runs into Elm Road then Church Hill which leads to the site of the original LTS station but this is also some distance.

    "Ladies" signs may be rarer than "Gents" as the ladies toilet was often in a ladies waiting room therefore not needing its own sign. You may be more successful looking for "Ladies Waiting Room" sign.

    I think they were railway rather than Royal Mail and electric rathr than diesels. Is the sort of thing? http://www.nrm.org.uk/ourcollection/photo?group=Derby&objid=1997-7397_DY_11641 I remember these tractors pulling trains of trolleys around London terminals in the 50s.
