How many do do that? Are the savings to be made as large as those in south Wales? Another thought: If you register your card with the TfW app you can manually add up to six missing taps every 28 days. That would avoiding jumping off/on trains unless you travel more often.

I agree, but maybe they could enable them to tap on/off via the device guards use to scan cards? I doubt if they will though.

It could be argued that it should work, even for those not knowing exactly where the readers are or unable to sprint, as it's perfectly legitimate to split tickets. I gather it happens a lot at the edge of the TfL PAYG area, the difference being that the next train is usually only a few minutes...

Why would you do that when you could buy an e-ticket on your phone or an excess from on-train staff?

Is it? The NRCoT explicitly state that you can use more than one ticket for a journey provided the train stops to pick up and set down at the station where you change tickets. There's nothing in the TfW PAYG T&C's to contradict this

Stagecoach South Wales has TOTO, including daily and weekly caps. I've no idea what ticketing system they use or whether it's the same as that used by other subsidiaries.

Wouldn't an operator always apply for the maximum number of vehicles a depot could accommodate even if they had no intention of using all the capacity?
