Does walking throughout a moving train class as working on a moving platform?

You walk through the train?

How competitive are trainee posts in Yorkshire?

There are 1000's of applicants when the trainee jobs are advertised. There were 7000 when I applied for my job 9 years ago, I think that's about the normal amount that apply with my TOC.

DSD pedal - Do any drivers use both feet?

Or if you are driving an 802 there is a button on the desk that you can hold down instead of the pedal if you want to stand up and stretch your legs, I find it a bit awkward though so don't really use it.

    How far is 60 minutes?

If you get confused about whether you live within an hour of the depot then maybe a job where you need to work independently and think for yourself isn't for you. Surely if you are applying for the position you know how long it would take you to get there.

Is it possible to change TOC after qualifying as a driver?

You might be contractually liable for training costs if you qualify with one TOC and move to another TOC while you are still PQA. Why should/would a TOC spend £10,000's on training someone who has no intention of ever working for them and just wants a licence?

    Height worries!

If they haven't asked at the application stage then I would guess that there are no restrictions.

    HELLLPPP! Relocating..Anyone with experience?

I was based in London and applied for a trainee driver position in the north west and they were fine. My depot is about 30 minutes from where I live, I'm not sure how strict they are with this but you obviously don't want to be hours from your depot with the silly hours you will work.

Are tunnel walls the closest object to a train?

Oh yeah, only read the title. A train wash then?

Are tunnel walls the closest object to a train?

Surely a platform edge is closer to the train than a tunnel wall.

    Least demanding railway job?

Drivers rest day working can be very little work for a huge amount of money. Every few years you get a job with 10 minutes driving because they have a train that needs moving to the shed with no one to do it.

    Medication and medicals

As above, the medication is fine, but do make sure that you tell them about it.

    Emergency situation MMI

Use one where you can give examples of how you acted calmly and followed any required procedures or previous training if possible (if you have previously taken a first aid course and used that in a situation is an example) that is what they are looking for.

    Driver jobs - interview

Depend on what happened and if it is relevant to the position you are applying for. The whole reference thing could be a bit of a sticking point if you are using your previous employer, most TOCs follow up on the references, although saying that mine took me on before they had heard back.

Any NHS staff left to become a train driver?

It's part of ASLEF's charter to have zero hours overtime and more people employed in the train drivers grade. The union want us to work less hours, not more!

Any NHS staff left to become a train driver?

There are 1000's of applicants for drivers jobs when they are advertised, you've only got to look at the threads on here to see there are no issues with recruitment. The only issue with retaining drivers is that drivers will leave to go to a TOC with a higher salary or perceived better T&C's, so...

    TPE trainee drivers

There are assessments being held for the latest applicants at the end of this month. I've not read all the other posts in this thread, but hopefully that sheds some light on where they are at.

Any NHS staff left to become a train driver?

You have a very strong drivers union in ASLEF. You won't be working through your breaks or feel unsafe at work. I see that you are in Liverpool, the TOCs at Lime St work nights and weekends so you can expect some of that. I can't comment on comparisons with the NHS but as a train driver you will...
