Trivia: Largest population served by single track line

Never mind 'predominately', the whole of Cornwall* is totally served by a single track line over Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge. *ignoring that part of Cornwall served via Bere Alston.

Yes Southern do allow collection with any card. From a recent booking confirmation email: Southern's refund without a fee deal only works if the ticket has not been collected.

The most stupid thing I have seen...

Are you saying he hit about five people, five people being "nearly half a dozen", or did he actually miss everyone?

    Bi-Linugal Branding/station signs.

It also helps if those people making the signs have an understanding of the language. The Welsh reads: "I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7702913.stm

London midland ticket machine horror story

And reasonably so. But the train company does need that proof.

Summons for failing to submit a rail ticket??

The obvious solution is for the card readers at Gatwick to accept the contactless payment cards from passengers arriving by train from London, open the gate and deduct a £20.00 Penalty Fare automatically. I am sure the OP would find that OK.... better than over sixty pounds anyway.

Gosport has Portsmouth Harbour Station within half a mile of it's High Street, although perhaps not what most people would consider 'within walking distance'. :)

Trivia: Stations that were open/closed for the shortest time

Watford Stadium Halt didn't last long. Opened: 4 December 1982. Last train to stop there was probably in 1993. I.e. about eleven years. Only used on Watford FC home match days.
