Realtime Trains blocked by ScotRail WiFi

Some services are poor at times. As usual anything negative gets blowing out of proportion. Especially when it comes to signalling problems. The main issue on some lines is overcrowding. Borders Railway and Aberdeen/Inverness to Glasgow come to mind

    New Digital CIS at Saltcoats

They still have the same at Prestwick Airport, they cant keep the station lights in working order but the CIS is still soldiering on (The airport owners that is, not Abellio/NR) --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Another article regarding the new CIS, which apparent is called iPoint...

Realtime Trains blocked by ScotRail WiFi

But ScotRail also say that they have been asking the station WiFi provider to remove the Age and Gender questions you need to answer when connecting to the station WiFi and it still has not been removed. This has been ongoing for more than a year now. Do we know who provides the station WiFi...

Realtime Trains blocked by ScotRail WiFi

This comes up on Twitter a lot, the official ScotRail statement is that it is not meant to be blocked and they are in discussions with the third-party provider that provides their station WiFi to unblock it. I know Tom himself has brought this up with ScotRail on twitter in the past

    New Digital CIS at Saltcoats

Except when Abellio took over the ScotRail franchise they went out their way to put TOC information in all announcements at ScotRail stations, including all stations where only ScotRail operate from For example: "The next train at Platform 1 is the 1701 ScotRail service to blah blah blah"

    Stoneblower Derailment at Kirkconnel

Network Rail Scotland, ScotRail and Virgin Trains are reporting that a Stoneblower has derailed near Kirkconnel, with trains now unable to run between Carlisle and Kilmarnock http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/119039.aspx Virgin Trains have ticket acceptance with both Virgin...

    Reducing track noise

The Railway is an essential part of life in this country, from getting commuters to work to getting freight to the shop shelves. Yes, steps should be taken to mitigate noise where possible, but if the Railway was there before you then either lump it or move. If it is a new build Railway, then...

    New Digital CIS at Saltcoats

Do Network Rail or ORR have regulations on what can be displayed on CIS's?

Would this be honoured? East Kilbride to Tweedbank

Numbers would undoubtedly have been even higher if the line had went all the way to Carlisle, people going Edinburgh to Carlisle would have used that rather than the replacement buses that have been on.

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

Well this is the image ScotRail are using on their site for the 385, I would assume that their marketing department would use something similar to the design they have been promoting (Mods I still dont know how to resize the image using the IMG tag)

Delay Repay/Compensation. Time taken to receive

Two trips with VT, both trips processed at the same time, on the same web form for Delay Repay. Heard back for one journey within a fortnight, still waiting to hear back about the other.

    Wheelchairs and trains

Youve never worked in Glasgow Central then. Most of the NR staff are ok if you havent pre-booked but there is one guy who bitches at me everytime (I'm a companion to a wheelchair user) for not booking assistance in advance, because every single time he is always "at the other end of the station"...

    New Digital CIS at Saltcoats

Couple more pictures I may very well take a trip to Saltcoats in the next week. Couple of things I dont see on it, no mention of what TOC it is (dont all others say ScotRail?) and does not mention how many carriages the service is formed of, which ScotRail are currently rolling out [Mods...

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

They've definitely done the yellow door approach with the 380's, and it makes it look quite smart IMO, so if they do I would imagine that's what they would go with

    Security Alert At Leeds

JourneyCheck is reporting at Leeds: "Due to a safety inspection on a train at Leeds all lines are blocked."

    New Digital CIS at Saltcoats

I imagine they will use the same backend for train running information, probably just pull it from a Network Rail server farm. Then the new CIS backend will display that information how it wants to, format it, put in other stuff such as "rich multimedia content" and then display it to the end...
