I imagine that Northern Rail are probably planning on making their entire network a Penalty Fare zone in the near future. We have seen TVMs (normally card only unfortunately) installed at tiny rural stations on the Southern Rail network such as - Pevensey Bay / Normans Bay / Three Oaks / Doleham...
It is ridiculous that it hasn't been put in to Zone 6 considering that Ewell East and Ewell West are just simply suburbs of Epsom (and are also outside of Greater London as well) and are in Zone 6 but yet Epsom isn't. Also even though it is officially in the county of Surrey i think that Epsom...
The simple and best solution to Northern Ireland is to end our occupation of the six counties and make the island of Ireland in to one united country again. This is the most common sense option. This would instantly solve the entire border issue after brexit takes place.
Perhaps a much better option would have been to install additional ticket machines. That would have been better. But i guess GWR don't want to spend the money on that.
Southern Rail OBS always hide in the rear cab. I am guessing you don't go on Southern Rail very regularly. I have lost count of how many times they have just hidden away in the rear cab for the entire journey. They will often go in to the rear cab at the start of the journey and remain their for...
Just another typical example of our railways making things more difficult for passengers. Most people just turn up at the station just before their train and purchase a ticket then so these machines will now be completely useless to them. I highly doubt that there is that many people buying...
Gatwick Express don't have any Guards at all. It is all DOO. It would have been an OBS (which stands for On Board Supervisor or On Board Sometimes as they should be called) who normally just hide away in the rear cab. So i am surprised that he went to the effort of stopping people from entering...
Does anyone know of any similar website to - http://www.brfares.com/#home - for any other countries? Is such a website available in any other countries? I am basically looking for websites where you can simply enter where you are travelling from and where you are travelling to (without having to...
I must say that £1080.00 for a Trent Barton annual ticket seems very expensive. Especially considering that others are a lot cheaper. For example Arriva The Shires charge £900.00 for their annual ticket which covers an area stretching from Essex to Oxfordshire which is much larger than the Trent...
I don't think most passengers look at reg numbers. It is probably only a very tiny percentage that do. It is really only bus enthusiasts that will look at the reg numbers. In fact most people who don't drive (and even some who do drive) don't even understand reg numbers and wouldn't have a clue...
No worries. Happy to help with information.
Yes you can get a day ticket giving unlimited travel on all trains and buses in Northern Ireland (or whatever zones you picked - zone 4 covers all of Northern Ireland - but the other zones 1 / 2 / 3 / NW cover smaller areas) for one day. However they...
I remember that Palaeobus (who went bust years ago) used to operate night bus services around Worthing which i always found strange considering Worthing is not the sort of place you would really need them.
Yes a lot of bus operators do it unfortunately. Although at least Arriva only very rarely use personalised registration numbers. They don't do it with all their buses like certain other companies. Also they are owned by the German government so they can probably afford it (although i still don't...
The regional trains are a lot cheaper though. You can get anywhere in Germany using entirely regional trains (although it will take longer than the intercity and high speed trains of course) for quite cheap prices. They also have a very good value Day Rover ticket (i can't remember the name off...
I have just sent an email to the Rail Delivery Group so hopefully they will reply soon. It would be really interesting to find out more about these very elusive annual All Line Rover tickets for the UK.
Thanks for the replies. Interesting to see some other liveries.
Another one i don't like is the new Newbury & District livery that Reading Buses unveiled yesterday (although the previous one wasn't that good either). It looks almost exactly the same as the NXWM route 9 Platinum livery. Another...
