I googled a cough I had once and everything pointed towards me having tuberculosis!
What I’m saying is without trying to be to rude you’ve done the hard work getting the magic call don’t now worry about everything else it will all fall into place they’ve recruited you now and pending your...
A friend of mine is currently undergoing training with GWR and as above, his leave has been built into the training cycle so all the trainee group are off at the same time.
That would sound like a positive call to me, but that’s just an educated guess. Easy for me to say but dont sweat it they will soon call you back as if it is an offer they will want to get you booked in for a medical ASAP.
That is mighty quick as I’m sure your aware and from personal experience talent pools can go on for ever and your not even guaranteed a place after that so congratulations this is a good result for you.
You can’t go far wrong with interview advice that is littered all over this forum. The interview is in the STAR format, make sure you have plenty of examples of things that have happened in you life that they want to hear and by that I mean check the conductor advert again, it tells you what...
I read this thread with interest as I am due to start conductor training next month. My current job involves conflict and confrontation on an almost daily basis so I would like to think I have the skills to manage most situations.
I would also like to think that the vast majority of the paying...

As per the previous answers be completely honest with injuries/meds etc it would be more devastating to be hooked out of the job once you’ve started for any bending of the truth at the medical stage, I’m sure...
Hi, if you get angsty about waiting then nothing about the railway recruitment process I can see is going to help reassure you. I have reached a talent pool before thinking I had made it only for my psychometric tests to expire 18 months later before I was offered a job therefore I’m back to...
Im going slightly off topic but how safe do you really think the railway is as far as job security?
everyone sees that airlines are being decimated at the moment but as an industry outsider I don’t see how the railway can escape unscathed with the (I assume) drop in passenger numbers and...
This thread has gone massively off piste. Maybe another one could be started about the pros and cons of shift work?
Going back to one of the original questions from the OP are Conductor positions under threat with GWR?
ok thanks I’ve heard nothing so more than likely I haven’t made the grade this time but at least it saves me refreshing my emails every 5 minutes! Good luck
a mate of mine was successful on the last advert. It’s a mixture of days, late afternoon starts into late evening and nights. It doesn’t look to pretty on paper but he loves it.
