Hi all,

Me again

Had a missed call from HR department yesterday afternoon and tried to return the call, no answer

However do we think this maybe an offer of a position? I’ve only been in the talent pool for a week. Would they be calling for any other reason or is this likely to be because a position is available?

It’s so annoying it’s before the bank holiday weekend as I doubt they’ll be working today.

That would sound like a positive call to me, but that’s just an educated guess. Easy for me to say but dont sweat it they will soon call you back as if it is an offer they will want to get you booked in for a medical ASAP.

Sounds like that would be good news. I was in the talent pool for GWR for 8 days so it can go quick if you are lucky and interviewed well etc.

Fingers crossed for you and which depot is this?

You're right that most HR teams won't be working over this long bank holiday weekend - they were probably trying to get through as much work on Wednesday.

Either way, I'm sure they'll be in touch / pick up early next week and often a call is positive news of some sort, especially if you are already in a talent pool already. Hopefully it is indeed good news!

I had the phone call yesterday morning and I have a role (medical dependent). All paperwork being sent over Monday. One very happy man!!

Excellent. I did think there may be someone at work from HR.

I have realised the railway doesn’t rush these things. I was told explicitly that I’d receive all the paperwork by yesterday and still nothing. Thankfully, I’m not in a job I desperately hate and need to leave so it’s no major drama. But I do realise that it appears to be very un time urgent

For me, it took a couple of days after verbally accepting to get the written conditional offer.

It's easier said than done, and something I definitely struggle with, but patience is a virtual in any recruitment process. While it's likely to be life event for the individual concerned, for the resourcing team it's just another new starter in a long line of many.

Conditional offer has landed in my inbox, yesterday. Now just waiting for a medical date and hopefully be over the line and can hand my notice in with Greggs!
