The original plan was that WMR would be separate, to minimise the transition should TfWM follow the leads of TfL & Merseytravel (and now, it seems, TfGM) in taking over direct control of its network (IIRC).
Worth noting that this consultation only covers Moor Street to Bordesley (inc. the East & West Chords); work at Snow Hill, at King's Norton and at Barnt Green (plus between King's Norton & Barnt Green) are subject to separate consultations.
My guess is that these separate consultations feed the...
A lot of the earlier anti-HS2 activism was decrying the environmental effects of building a new railway through the "green and pleasant land", which was basically NIMBYism disguised as tree-hugging.
That's why we got Chipping Warden Tunnel, the Bat Tunnel (wherever it is), and Bromford Tunnel...
I'd argue that the top and bottom nosings on the stairs need a colour change - bright yellow, perhaps?
We certainly had to add those on all the steps on footbridges and the link on the Northumberland Line job.
Based on the Tilbury Loop Line works, I'd imagine that UKMS-R1 gets used again up here. This re-used the F&F Cantilevers used on the GEML two-track areas; conventional style, with a horizontal top tube from the mast, an inclined strut tube from the mast, a horizontal registration tube from the...
Precisely. The twin track cantilever there is Series 2, although, if hairs are being split (as is so common on this forum), the design of the mast and boom itself goes back as far as the Mk3 era (definitely GN Suburban, possibly Weaver-Glasgow).
The cantilevers hanging from the boom, however...
It's well worth remembering that Series 1 structures have been used between Man Vic & Stalybridge tunnel already, and that they are currently going in between Huddersfield & Leeds, so Garforth (and indeed East Garforth, Micklefield, and Cross Gates) are no different to anywbere else on the...
Passed through the Leeds area on an XC service today, and noticed that masonry bolts have appeared in a few new places in Marsh Lane Cutting. The patterns seem to be consistent with portal mounting brackets either side of it, so it's a reasonable assumption that OLE is likely to be...
Not as far as I believe, no. I don't believe it's on the main Huddersfield-Leeds corridor, so it probably won't.
Copmanthorpe's been through the mill a bit IIRC; the original plan to replace the crossing with a stepped footbridge met with a few complaints about accessibility. The first attached...
Afternoon all,
Passing northwards along the MML, I've noticed a large amount of civils activity at Wellingborough Up Yard.
It looks as if a lot of drainage works, possibly for fuel(?) are in progress at the moment; lots of preformed corrugated manholes/inspection chambers stored to one side...
