Birmingham New Street station announcements: 12 years out of date

Probably just an error. Some of the BHM manual announcers have been there years - I can think of a droney sounding woman who always interrupts auto announcements

Trivia: Largest stations by physical size?

I think we need to be serious here. I believe a station is its platforms, as far out as a train waits to enter the station, the buildings, the concourse , back offices, car parks, taxi ranks., bus lanes etc hence why I said St Pancras

The future of Barlaston / Norton Bridge / Wedgwood railway stations.

To be honest how many places with stations could you say that about? The only reason it’s bus service territory is because they are technically rail replacement buses. Which may not exist had there not been a train station. There are also many new housing developments around the area now. A...

Trivia: which railway station is furthest from the town it serves?

Stoke on Trent station is in the centre of the stoke on trent conurbation, yet is some distance from the de facto city centre town of Hanley, yet is right on the edge of Stoke town (stoke upon trent where the civic centre and Minster are) though is in Shelton which is a suburb of hanley , and...

Help finding a certain rail map of south/west yorkshire

I had a WYPTE Metrocard valid to South Elmsall, then purchased a day return between South Elmsall and Bentley. I wasn’t extending the validity I purchased a new ticket on the train. Sandal and Agbrigg is basically a bus shelter on a wooden platform which did not have ticket facilities. - aah I...

Help finding a certain rail map of south/west yorkshire

thankfully the Doncaster trains were quite decent 3** something trains (I wasn’t in the know back then) The trek from student halls, hungover on an icy winter morning wasn’t so good, neither was the return if I was stuck on the wrong side of the crossing at Bentley if they’d held it closed after...

Help finding a certain rail map of south/west yorkshire

I used to do this back in 1998 at uni on a placement. I had a student metro card and I’d catch the train at Sandal and Agbrigg, show the guard the metro card and ask for a return from south elmsall to Bentley

How would you Rate your Local Station?

Sorry! I didn’t add the three on! My 9.5 throws mine out , couldn’t give it a ten because the rolling stock is very ‘samey’ but better than a 9 because of diverts, specials and freight.

How would you Rate your Local Station?

I have marked mine down overall as it’s all very well having pretty buildings and a range of rolling stock, but being stuck at the bus stop on a windy rainy evening when everything has closed outweigh them. Your overall is not the mean though. (Can a moderator PM me how to insert quotes)
