it's not, actually. I have just cycled home through it and double-checking, the Met Office rainfall radar shows hardly anything worse than blue - 2 mm an hour with small patches of up to 4.
I'm sure that Llandudno Junction showed the bus stop outside as "Platform 5." I thought it was excellent and would have sworn that it was on the departure boards too. However I can't see it on any website now, not even NR..
Maybe that was only when we had a RRB from there onwards to...
Some books that I have read have turned my world view upside-down... Some of the stuff we were taught at school - or have since absorbed via the media - turns out to be complete fabrication, other ideas are just a total revelation - and are then so obvious you can't understand why they aren't...
it's somewhat reassuring to read articles like https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgl1pgr2zn8o saying
Trump is so transparently bending the facts that are obvious to most people that you wonder if there is anybody in the USA with the spine to point out the lies... (well, it's obvious to all...
Stourbridge town station could well be renamed Stourbridge Interchange, as a) it's not the original Town station, and b) is close to the bus station (which is called "Interchange.")
The Bradford (bus) interchange says on its webpage...
On the NR TPE upgrade site https://www.networkrailmediacentre.co.uk/news/transpennine-route-upgrade-prepares-for-major-upgrades-between-dewsbury-and-york# I noticed
Given that that is only 4 per hour, do we really think that they count as "heavily used?" It's still only about 7 per hour over...
I am surprised to hear that, aren't foreign dedicated heavy haul railways laid with very heavy rails and quite closely-spaced sleepers? 40-T axle loads in Australia...
Or does "the tonnage expected" actually mean [quite light] passenger trains at a high frequency? Seems odd to me. Ballast...
I don't know, but touching in on the tram saves getting charged when one doesn't turn up!
We got caught this way at Picadilly, service suspended just after we touched in so we walked to Victoria - not forgetting to touch out at Shude St to avoid each getting charged for a system-wide journey.
Maybe... However building any of "son of 2a" but with a smaller loading gauge would seem to be very short-sighted to me. I imagine that would be the most expensive and disruptive bit to upgrade in the future (if found to be justified.) Replacing ballasted with slab track ought to be do-able...
and a lot better than the current 2-an-hour all-stations offerings too - one of which even calls at Levenshulme and Heaton Chapel. Long-distance passengers from the S end of the Marches line need a proper Inter-Regio express service to Manchester.
I have looked at https://www.enwl.co.uk/power-cuts/extra-care/our-extra-care-register/ now and it looks like a really valuable extra fall-back... I shall certainly register there if/as I get more frail, but I'm felling pretty spry at the moment. I would suggest that (from what you have posted)...
some at least seem to have been "shallow" enough (i.e. above sea level) for their collapses to undermine the railway tunnel track bed, and some were presumably higher than the railway too for the contaminated drainage to be coming out through the railway tunnel...
Why? It's good advice (@snail's) and could well be useful for the more senior members here. It's good to know what apparently suspicious emails are not scams, and a welcome reminder of help which is there if only you register - which you can't if nobody has told you about it.
