    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

It is for tonight, but still showing available for tomorrow.

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

It may be a moot point given that the afternoon Scotrail service now seems to be running again. But there is nothing about any restrictions for using the sleeper when you book on the Scotrail website, just that you need a reservation to take a cycle on it - so it appears I can take a bike...

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

I don't think he was being quite serious. But the question remains: where will these passengers go? As far as I know, Scotrail don't normally advertise tickets for the sleeper service?

    ScotRail cancelling services July 2024

But Scotrail are currently selling standard tickets between all stations on the WHL for travel on it .....

Looks like Fort William is down to just 2 normal trains a day next week (evening departure from Glasgow and afternoon departure from Mallaig/Ft William not running). Although tickets are available for the Sleeper - are they adding extra coaches for standard passengers to/from Glasgow?

    Train left 6 minutes early

I see on RTT it also departed Church Fenton 2 minutes before it was due to have arrived there (having actually arrived 10 minutes early). And then, ironically, got into York 5 minutes late!

Could political parties be done away with altogether?

I totally oppose political parties. It's why I refuse to vote. We have an undemocratic system whereby MPs do not represent their constituents, they represent their party/party leader. And the ludicrous situation whereby if I vote for the best candidate to represent me, I am deemed to also be...

    ScotRail 156 replacements

On a more serious note, obviously, bimodals wouldnt be much use on the WHL. Note sure what should replace the 156s there? Bearing in mind too the introduction of the additional 153s to provide more space for bikes.

    ScotRail 156 replacements

Don't mind where they get them from - I just want to see tractors back on the line

    ScotRail 156 replacements

For the West Highland line they should be replaced by Class 37s hauling Mk1 coach stock

Repurposed train carriages (e.g. bars, restaurants, etc?)

2 coaches at Glenfinnan have been converted into a restaurant and a bunkhouse.

BBC TV and computer weather forecasting.

We've not had any days in the past 18 months when all time record temps have been expected, and very few when a date record was expected.

    ScotRail "Request to Stop" Ad

There are announcements on the train to inform passengers that they need to contact a member of staff. The guards on these services tend to be quite proactive - indeed, it's usually the only time I get my ticket checked onboard a train between Evesham and Lochailort.

    ScotRail "Request to Stop" Ad

I think Locheil Outward Bound is only one carriage long too Never known anyone to get on or off there. Always intrigues me as to why it's a scheduled stop whereas Lochailort isn't (every time I've been on the Mallaig line someone has boarded or disembarked at Lochailort )

    ScotRail "Request to Stop" Ad

It's not unusual on the WHL (and presumable therefore, the Kyle and Far North as well) for only one door to be opened.

Lack of revenue checking on InterCity services

I can't remember the last time my ticket was checked on an Avanti service. Can usually often get to Birmingham without a ticket check as well. And as there are no barriers at Glasgow Central on platforms 1 & 2, it means I could travel ticket-less from Evesham to Glasgow (assuming I don't...

    Club Avanti

In that case (and I've still not looked at the distances!) then splitting twice between Birm and Glas could well result in 3 qualifying journeys.

    Club Avanti

Latest trip was spit at Oxenholme. And thinking about it, I dont think you can split the trip twice to make 3 qualifying journeys? So not sure how they calculated it, unless they've included my journeys last June as well as this June ..... Oh well, I have the free ticket code so not going...

    Club Avanti

I joined Club Avanti a few years ago, but as I normally make just 2 return journeys a year on Avanti trains (Birmingham to Glasgow) I never really gave any thought to it. Pleasantly surprised on return from my trip last week to find I've qualified for a free Standard Premium ticket next time I...

    Does anybody not fly?

Haven't flown anywhere since 1982 (family holiday to Malta). I doubt I ever will again. But on the other hand, I don't (and have no desire to) travel abroad.
