Quite; it's often quicker for me to go BGHHUDMAN/MCV than it is for me to go BGHMCV. Especially on a Sunday.
Speaking of which, LDSBGHMCV on a Sunday would be quite nice. :)
Dugher was a petrolhead who had three points on his license, and pledged to end the "war on the motorist".
It wasn't the best pick for a Labour party who ****ed up the Transport brief under Blair (before getting it back under control under Brown and Adonis), and was a good representation of the...
About five months ago, in the wake of news that there would be a "pause" in the electrification of the ManchesterHuddersfieldLeeds line, I requested the minutes of meetings between the DfT and Network Rail regarding the delay.
I've finally got a response back Network Rail have refused to...
This is also untrue. I've taken the Brighouse via Dewsbury to Leeds train dozens, maybe hundreds of times and I've never been fined for presenting myself at the ticket counter at Leeds on the (common) occasion I couldn't purchase from the guard.
I'm actually surprised, then, that The Thick of It properly used a Grand Central train to Bradford, stopping at Brighouse.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 had trains (and a couple of jeeps) from Canary Wharf to Westminster, via Canning Town and the Widened Lines.
I was rounding down a little, I admit. Getting up from the level of the Aire up to Burley Park is a bit of an uphill push, so that walk between the two might be 45 minutes, but its not inconcievable to do Burley Park to Leeds City in 35 minutes (Cardigan Road, Alexandra Road, Westfield Road...
At uni, I'm slap bang in the middle of Leeds City and Burley Park, about fifteen (ten at a push) minutes away. With my parents, I'm about a 15 minute walk from Brighouse.
As far as I'm aware, the next train in on Westgate's 1 after the Grand Tour pulls in is the xx05 from Leeds (which would arrive before Eureka at about xx18). As Eureka has moved that back about ten minutes, and as I'm sure there's a train in 2 at around quarter past, I think it's better for it...
I live right in the middle between Burley Park and Leeds City, so it doesn't matter to me. LDS-BUY on the train is £1.65, Station Interchange-Cardigan Road is £1.90 on the 19.
I have a friend who sometimes uses the Harrogate between Leeds and Burley Park (as it's quicker, and more importantly, cheaper than the 19 bus), and he often muses about being on a Pacer at 6pm.
(Incidentally, I've never noticed how much the connection time at Leeds matters for NRE until...
There's a reasonably priced council car park near Westgate station, but coming from the south you need to turn off just before the station because it's on a one-way road.
I'd personally go for more flexibility around Brighouse:
1tph Selby-Dewsbury-Blackpool
1tph Leeds-Dewsbury-Vic
1tph Leeds-Halifax-Vic
1tph York-Blackpool
If they build another platform at Huddersfield (or reinstate the crossing between 1 and 4), bring back the Leeds-Huddersfield-Vic...
In defence, if I don't have my glasses on (as happened recently when they were nicked), I have difficulty reading the departure boards. And I have had times when there have been multiple Sprinters in 10 and 13 at Leeds so I had to ask which one to board. Or last Friday night, where about 100...
I've known the 2033 (not sure if it's changed under the new timetable) to Leeds not been given an announced platform until near on 2030 on a couple of occasions. Expecting a few dozen people to bolt up platform 2 or 4 (as it normally is) all the way from the concourse up to the standard class...
I'm curious as to why they actually can't just walk between those two stations, as it's arguably no slower than having to sort out a taxi (especially during rush hour). I've walked it in less than five minutes before.
