Avanti West Coast Trainee Train Driver Euston and Wolverhampton

Definitely do it with a mouse. You will be clicking between two options, on opposite sides of the screen in a very limited window of time. You want to be able to go between them very quickly.

Avanti West Coast Trainee Train Driver Euston and Wolverhampton

Do you know which side you missed? Could it be that a few faults went passed on the left hand side that you missed? The left side is weighted much more importantly than the right side. I know I noticed one fault that I was just too late to click it (two lights were on when I was blocking some...

Avanti West Coast Trainee Train Driver Euston and Wolverhampton

Personally I did fine the first time, one or two on the second and I think around ten on the last. Definitely a couple of situations where I went to click but was too late so ended up clicking just as it changed and so missing one and then getting the next one immediately wrong.

Trainee Train Driver - London Paddington

I'd also say just swing by this forum on a daily basis too. Every role I have applied for I've found out about first from someone posting it to this forum. It is a real helpful community here in that regard.

You don't know until they say no for definite. People are getting the "unfortunately you haven't been successful" email, so until you get that email, assume nothing, and try and stay positive.

Nor here. However I have realised I have passed both those tests with the OPC already, so it could be that I won't hear back until it gets to the tests I still need to pass? That's what I'm trying to convince myself of anyway :D

Avanti West Coast Trainee Train Driver Euston and Wolverhampton

Nothing here yet. I wonder if they are going alphabetically? It doesn't seem to be date of application, location or pass grade dependant as all those metrics are all over the shop. Everything crossed.

Avanti West Coast Trainee Train Driver Euston and Wolverhampton

You couldn't. The application page was broken and no applications were being accepted through it, only through the OPC test that was linked in the job posting. If you applied to both then you are safe, but if you only tried applying via the posting but not the OPC then your application has not...

    Application help

The problem is just one of quantity. There does seem to be more roles, but there are more people applying. Every trainee train driver position will get literally thousands of applications, from people who are learning exactly how to maximise their chances of beating the sift. So you need to have...

Avanti West Coast Trainee Train Driver Euston and Wolverhampton

I'm trying to remember if the OPC application had a CV attachment prompt, but I don't believe it did. I would imagine there are instant pass fail questions. If you pass those the rest is marked on a general grade. If you pass a threshold, I'm sure the next check is to confirm that you live...

    Application help

The thing that matters to them first and foremost is safety. If you can find a way to have experience of operating under safety protocols (the more stringent and important the better) then that will help massively. Try and build a collection of circumstances that cover what the job requires...

I did apply to both. Hope that doesn't eliminate me immediately as being unable to follow orders...

Chiltern trainee vacancies - (Marylebone / Aylesbury / Banbury)

It's definitely frustrating, for sure. I had a year where somehow every trainee train driver job I applied for, the position had closed by the time I'd finished the paperwork. I started saving my answers to questions so I could copy and paste the responses into subsequent applications. It's...

Chiltern trainee vacancies - (Marylebone / Aylesbury / Banbury)

I'm thinking that their standard response is 45 minutes, but for this one they changed the advert to 30. I reckon it will be 30, but they forgot to update the question in the application as it's a pretty stock and standard questionnaire.

I got mine in at 9:20 this morning so I guess I just snuck in under the wire.

    LNER Trainee Driver Jobs (18/03/2020)

I doubt four weeks is a fixed time, I'm sure it just means once we've whittled through everyone and gotten around to it. I know I'm one of many counting the days until we hit the four week mark, but for now we wait. It's worse than usual as there isn't a whole lot else to be doing right now!
