Exactly, so why can't it be done now? Why can't the same product in the same factory be built as it was in 2012?
Have Optare cut work force? Have experienced staff had enough and left?
Optare managed to build 33 Solos relatively quickly for LibertyBus to take over Jerseys Bus Network back in, I think, 2012.
LibertyBus operate 35 Solos, 2 more arrived a couple of years ago to replace Fiat Ducato/Bluebird Orions. They also have some Dennis Dart Plaxton Pointers/Caetona Nimbus...
I don't know, perhaps we should have asked First that in 2012.
If it does matter, if Numerically Uniform Corridors matter in terms of marketing then do it right. If it doesn't, leave it as is. Changing the 62 to the 2 was pointless in my opinion.
The 10/56 change is, to me, proof it's messy. Changing the 56 to the 10 to fit with the 9 is great, but only works if the corresponding 57 was re-numbered 20. Then there's the 9/10 and 10/20 Corridors for example.
The Govan - Shawlands Service is the 3 & 34. Works better as 33/34 or 3 & 33...
What First really need to do is a SimpliCity exercise, Properly!!, this time.
X Prefixes should ONLY be used for Express Variants of the same Route Number for example. I'd have all the 1 Services change screen to ' Glasgow 1' at Clydebank, and have 1C & 1D run from their respective termini with...
So what happens to the Gold Branded FirstXPress B9TLs?
I'd send them to Scotstoun and upgrade X4 & X8. Make a proper effort with those Express Services.
There are still 2005 Plaxton Pointer Darts. The same age as some of the oldest Citaro and B7RLEs to be honest. Seem confined to the 64.
That doesn't seem efficient. So they aren't actually withdrawing Buses, and still have the cost of a driver and fuel? Are any of their Routes doing well...
But why are Buses targeted first? You'd have cut pollution from 'dirty old buses' if they didn't have to sit idling in a poorly laid out, congested city.
Phase one should have been eradicating private cars. Removing taxis from stopping in Bus Lanes and Bus Priority traffic lights. LEZ is...
That'll be because of regular 20 Minute plus waits due to bunching.
First can't solve that, only the ineffective government can do anything. LEZ is a joke if taxis, private cars and 1980s vintage DMUs continue to enter glasgow city centre.
Arriva Service 17 was every 20 Minutes, all the way to Spateston. Combined with the 7 Arriva were every 10 Minutes between Ferguslie - Paisley - Partick - Glasgow.
These latest changes just follow the established McGill's PVR Reduction Strategy. I don't think this is the first X7 reduction...
It's been covered by the Manx Newspapers now.

Just wondering if the States of Guernsey release any details of their Bus Service Tendering Process?
I know the current Tender was awarded to CTPlus in 2015, and I think it was a five year contract? So is there a current Tender underway? Who is Bidding? And are previous Tenders publicly...
Been a while since we had any posts on here.
Bus Vannin are now effectively operating a Full Service, with the Island becoming one of the first countries in the world to become Covid free. Service 14/14B has not yet recommenced, and some Services are being operated by Mercedes Sprinter...
Just wondering exactly what's in the title...
What is the First UK Bus Numbering System? I know it's 1XXXX for Articulated, 2XXXX for Coaches, 3XXXX for Double Deckers, 4 & 5XXXX for Midi/Light Weights, 6XXXX for Single Deckers & 9XXXX for Ancillary Vehicles. I'm not entirely sure what 7XXXX &...
