Or you claim it off us and we claim it from the TOC cos we're paying for ToD which I'd say is a contract? Or from ATOC cos we also pay them for inserting a ToD record in Lennon?

MR: This is why it annoys us so much when TOCs plaster their sites and...
Hi JakeF,
Thanks for this. The 0906 number is used for telesales, we have a 0870 one if customers get into trouble with ToD.
It sounds like you know a lot about paid search. I was talking about TOCs' paid search costs when they advertise themselves as retailers under generic terms such as...
Apologies if I sounded like I was throwing my toys out of the pram (but I wasn't) and I can assure you I have the utmost respect for this Forum and the knowledge here.
There are some very valid points raised about how we display fees and we know we have to change this.
I'm going to sound...
Thank you.

You're like a broken record.
Even with the discounted fares...
Cool job spec :-)
I think some aggressive TOCs will get round to promoting "find split prices (wherever) but book them with us for the cheapest prices".
The average traveller trying to "build" their own splits will give you more "charge ups" to do which ain't good for anyone.
Apologies for not explaining myself very well. We are not trying to trick people.
If you know about a split from a station near you or that you are passing thro', we'd like to hear if you get offered it if you just ask "can I get a split on this journey".
Without preempting any findings...
Raileasy would like to conduct some research into responses to requests for split ticket journeys at station ticket offices. Can any of you who would like to participate please ask your local ticket office staff if they can offer you a split on a journey where you know there is a split saving...
The more the merrier I say.
There were tweets from FGW at the end of last week saying they had removed early morning advance fares from Frome because they were being used for splitting.
Seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face or is it the consumer's?
It's not going to grow the...
It's great that Watchdog have clarified for their viewers it's all perfectly legal. It's like a stamp of approval.
This thread was top "organic" listing on Google for "Watchdog split ticketing", that is amazingly quick.
Thanks for the heads up re Barry Doe, I'll get hold of a copy.
I've been spending a lot of time recently on the UK rail retailing enigma i.e how can advertising cost + card costs + ToD costs + hosting + access charges/lines to back end systems (live & test) + data inc licenses + staff (inc...
bnm (whom I believe follows this forum) has been talking about us on the FGW "coffee shop" blog.
It was jolly nice of him to mention splitticketing.com to FGW passengers and a couple posted some nice savings (Worcester to Preston) even though he couldn't find the £19+ saving from...
They're essentially rover tickets so can't be sold via ToD. You guys will know why rovers and rangers aren't ToDable, it's a shame though. Not sure but I think we'd have to get accredited as well for retailing these. Nice products though and definitely something we need to look at in the future...
The DfT have told us the NRCOC will not be changed. The Govt gets enough flak at every fare round so why would they do something on top of that to raise prices?
I hope that is the only reason you feel "mainstreaming" splits is not a good idea, we like the idea of giving more people a chance...
Glad to see people here checking it out and thanks for the comments.
Please don't recommend people use it to find splits and then book them on TOC web sites, that would be annoying. A lot of really specialist knowledge (which you don't pick up in 5 mins) and hard work has gone into developing...
We did indeed get told to stop selling tickets to London Int'l. The reason is that certain TOCs use just their ordinary advance ticket types for journeys to/from London Int'l and these do not have as part of the fare restiction data "can only be used with a ES booking". The walk on fares are...
Apologies, have only just seen this. This is exctly right, ticket office staff can call a CTR help desk and retrieve the details with a name and address if the person has the card used for purchase.
Someone has posted our main office number which we're happy for members of this forum to use...
