Reading Station Train driver shift patterns and routes

You're very welcome - thanks for the thanks! I'm glad that I was able to be helpful! :) I can see that @tlionhart has provided you with some very detailed information on your other thread (https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/gwr-reading-station-shift-patterns-and-routes-2021.218974/), which...

Reading Station Train driver shift patterns and routes

That's right, GWR drivers are based at Reading, not SWR, and I understand not Cross Country, either. According to https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/different-driver-depot-route-and-traction-cards.205085/: I'm sorry that I have no further information for you. Hopefully somebody else with...

Reading Station Train driver shift patterns and routes

According to https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/different-driver-depot-route-and-traction-cards.205085/, no. I forgot, though, some Basingstoke and Salisbury drivers work between Basingstoke and Reading via Mortimer.

    Simple signalling question [Answered]

I was trained all must. However, some of the training isn't true of some other regions.

Reading Station Train driver shift patterns and routes

Reading is not a traincrew depot for SWR, but a destination. Drivers who drive to Reading are based at Waterloo, Wimbledon, Staines, and probably the new Feltham depot, too.

    Train driver medical

Hi, The short answer is, I don't know if I can answer that question, even having looked at RIS-3451-TOM. However, my thoughts: * Remember: there are more lenient requirements for existing drivers than new drivers. * Looking around our messroom, there are many drivers who look like they don't...

    OPC process question

You're very welcome, and I'm glad that another member was able to answer your additional question before I got to it. As Coach Carter said, if you did fail the MMI you have taken, you would not be eligible to take one within six months, which would usually involve the TOC discarding that...

    OPC process question

Congratulations on the passes and good luck with the MMI result. If you, unfortunately, fail the MMI, then if you apply to further companies, it will be their choice whether you just complete the MMI again, or whether you do all of the tests again. From what we've heard on here, GWR seem to...

Steam Train at Clapham Junction (Up Southern Lines) at 15:28

Hi all, There was a green steam locomotive hauling brown and cream coaches at Clapham Junction on the Southern lines in the Up direction today at 15:28. I didn't catch the name/number of the locomotive and am interested what it was. If anybody could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Many...

    What are the chances?

You're welcome! That's good! Yes, it does seem as if the odds are stacked against you - but you're right: with luck and perseverence you will make it! Many do! That's the benefit of recruitment being so slow - so many will drop out, and you'll have time to prepare for the next stage! a very...

    What are the chances?

By this point, you will already know that trainee driver positions many, many people apply for each trainee driver position. I've heard from 300 applicants to each role to 1,200 applicants for each role. I understand a spokesperson for a TOC claimed they get over 900 applicants for each role...

Hounslow Loop Circular Services No More?

SWR, like many other train operating companies (TOCs), are currently running a reduced timetable due to the covid-19 pandemic. As the Hounslow rounders only duplicate other services with the exception of the Hounslow Spur (Hounslow-Whitton), they have temporarily been removed from the...

You're welcome! Glad to hear that you've signed up to all of your local TOCs and FOCs. The process is long, and it's hard, but I would imagine that you stand a good chance of getting through. Good luck!

    Guard GWR or SWR

Having been through the recruitment process with a number of TOCs, I'd suggest "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". It might be worth taking the first one which you are offered (even if it's not your preference) because you might you might not be offered your first choice!

    WAVF Psychometric Test

The only advice I can give, is when you lose focus, move your eyes further away from the screen or closer to the screen. I found this helped me quickly regain focus. Good luck!

    Retreiving Items From The Track/Cess?

At my TOC, platform staff can retrieve items from between the platform and the train without a block if they are accompanied by a member of traincrew (driver or guard).
