    I can understand that they needed a dining train for corporate hire or fine dining and that this maybe had to involve refitting these coaches in a non authentic fashion... I do think they should paint them in an authentic livery though. Rolling stock is just as important as the loco to me...

    yes there was an appeal to buy some for preservation I read it somewhere too I wonder if one of each major type of wagon built in the 60s and 70s has been preserved somewhere? we need a kind of noah's ark train ferry to save an example of each type from scrap! Tim

    Ok so winner is HST power car even though its been re-engined! I should think a class 91 would be next as someone else said Would be interested to know how many miles on the still active 86s as they would have put in some shifts on WCML esp before 87s and 90s arrived

    does the crossing keeper have to change a signal when the gates are shut? how does it work where you have a manual crossing not next to a signal box? glad no one hurt in this incident

    preserved one at great central nottingham (ruddington) there was a preserved one at barrow hill too but not sure if there still do they have any 56s at burton depot anymore? washward heath presumably have them but not sure how you can photograph them Tim
