Their franchise plans?
If they ask you where you see yourself in so many years you can ask how they can help you achieve that depending on your answer.
What additional training they can offer you if you’re ambitious and want to progress within the grade?
Yeah it’s dangerous mate.
The Railway is an extremely small place and there’s always someone watching. I think I’d be a bit miffed if I was her and I’d read the above.
Guys not being funny but it may not be a good idea to mention names on here anyway but especially names of people quite influential in offering employment......ESPECIALLY when you label them a “cold fish” it’s bad enough being cryptic or putting names but you’ve actually put names, dates AND...
Depends on a lot of things really. Such as are you over the demons that put you in such an awful position in the first place and were you/ are you taking any medication for it.
You’ll have to declare all this on the application form anyway so my advice would be to get in touch with the Toc’s...
I’d agree with that! Asked a manager this question once and they said “it shows at some point this applicant has made an error in judgement”
Their words not mine...... does that necessarily mean people with points/who’ve made errors in judgement in the past wouldn’t make good drivers? In my...
I’m sure they’ll get back to you as soon as they can. There’s quite a few vacancies in different grades at the moment from what I can see so I’m sure they’ve just got their hands full mate.
To be fair, can you imagine how many emails and speculative enquiries these have to deal with per day? That not including the normal recruiting events/interviews/assessments across the country they have to do as well.
They were great with me when I had to deal with them. I wouldn’t want their...
Yes I agree with this. The academic side really isn’t the most important thing.
Finding a way of showing your levels of customer service and common sense is far more important. Grades show them you’re good in a classroom environment...... common sense shows them you’re unlikely to kill someone.
This is absolutely spot on! People can become obsessed in ensuring their examples come from the workplace..... unless they’ve specified that’s where they want it from who cares whether it’s the workplace or a hobby?
I’m sure there’s hobbies/interests out there that require discipline or rules...
I know a couple of guys commute in from as far out as Cambridge!! Bit of a jaunt like but it may give some idea on what the policies are like regarding how far you should live from the depot.
Saying that these are established drivers with years under their belt so policies may have changed...
Most of the London based drivers I know live on the outskirts in places such as Watford or Milton Keynes and commute in..... maybe a cheaper option accommodation wise if not the most glamorous :)
When I did it years ago it was on offer for £150 so wasn’t too bad. Managed to pass it but for all the good it did me I may as well have used the certificate as toilet roll.
if you’ve got the usual barriers on an application such as the need to relocate a long distance for example you’ll still...
It’s certainly a lot of money for no guarantees mate I’ll give you that!
Yes it’s extremely popular mate there’s a few threads on here that give information on how many applicants per job there are. So on one hand I can clearly see why people would want to go down this route....... but on the...
In that case mate turn a negative into a positive..... if you’ve not worked alone for long periods do you do anything in your hobbies that require you to spend long periods of time alone?
A friend of mine was in that same predicament and he used the fact that he did long distance cycling in his...
