Yes, maybe going off-topic....
But with the 0400 CMEE crew, the Control would balance the early starts and use the moves for later departures.
As regards the other moves now, there is (was?) a lot of goodwill on the part of many drivers in making up etc of trains overnight, to get a correct...
In the same way there used to be a 04.00 CMEE crew at both Brighton and Selhurst, whose first priority was to move stock before the start of service, to ensure the outstations were balanced.
But of course another saving, and now we run short in the morning peak!
And to think that when GTR took over FCC, they complained that FCC left them short of drivers......
And yes, the TL route is short of drivers, but nothing compared to the mess the Southern management carried forward!
However, both management and union are to blame in that both sides always...
The conversation goes.....
GTR: we wish to introduce OBS
RMT: we oppose that and insist on guards on every train
Hardly takes three minutes to say that, let along any longer.
So of course GTR management are going to refuse!
Yes, because the Southern fitters were told that each unit had its own quirks (i.e.: mods), that the Bournemouth staff had got to know over the years.
Hence, it the manuals were of limited use!!
My opinion on two days travelling on them is similar but.... (And there's always a but!)
The first day I sat next to the window. Wrong move!
The ducting along the bottom makes it difficult for a long-legged person to sit straight.
The second day I sat next to the aisle. Same level of comfort...
Cascades down....
Metro depots cover Three Bridges and Horsham work in the metro area, to allow Horsham and Three Bridges drivers, probably along with Redhill, to cover Barnham or Brighton work?
As long as it doesn't go on too long, and these depots lose their Metro route knowledge!
Or there is the xx.08 TL service from Gatwick during the day, which connects.
Of course GWR also want to operate a half-hourly service to and from Gatwick too.
Many of the services only have 6 - 8 minutes at Manchester Victoria, before heading back to Leeds.
Control's have to work with the resources they have.
If there is a spare unit (or one with a long layover) and a starting crew, then the service can be recovered. However, if the crew work in and...
Yes, but TL and SE drivers cannot cover each other's work in the event of a driver not showing up.
On more than one occasion SE have been able to help out, but it's been blocked by TL, although there was a recent 2Zxx on the SE than a 1Exx, to get around the issue.....
Err, no....
That's why they run around as 3Txx at present, so the signallers knows they're 700's.
One tried to go out the other night as a 5Zxx and was queried as it came out of the depot, before being changed.
Been happening for years on the TL route.
And if a train does stop and there are no staff, then the driver is advised to carry out a safe method of working, which usually involves manually closing each set of doors!
In any case, its no different to running fast to make up time, the customer is...
It hasn't been deleted, it is still in the 'Trust' system.
Terminated East Croydon due to a Network Rail Incident (OC).

Usually done at the request of Network Rail, as if the alteration / cancellation is known at least the day before, then it...
