Class 700s are supposed to begin operating on Great Northern well before the Canal Tunnels come into passenger use.

Not quite the glorious start for a new train in service on infrastructure that was ready for it until a tamper had a hissy fit and slewed the track the wrong way thus making train and infrastructure incompatible at the launch, especially if one goes down there and get re-profiled if the signaller has now idea if it's a 319, 377, 387 or 700 on that particular service.

RCM has a copy of the workings so once go is given, advance notice can be given and guidance for signallers outlined. Phase 2 will be more of an issue.

In a situation like this, would the driver have been made aware of this issue and so would be ready to reject a route if necessary?

Yes, there's a notice in our Late Notice Case.

The restriction is already there so updating it means there no reason it should be missed. Units are already running around so unless you use xZxx headcode they should be find.

One tried to go out the other night as a 5Zxx and was queried as it came out of the depot, before being changed.

At one point the signallers demanded 5Zxx when 3Txx were first brought in. Considering 3xxxx headcode run on BML now, there is scope for issue under your example.

Not that it matters, NR has lifted the restriction after actually checking.

Confirmed the restriction at South Croydon was withdrawn at 16:09 today.

Plus the use of the 3Txx codes was because the ever changing N/RAPs restrictions was getting confusing and the signallers needed a positive way of identifying a class 700s other than the 6X66 on delevery and even now if you were to ask every signaller what the class 700 restriction are you will get different answers.

It's time as a 313 just as a general paths for speeds etc. Not really important for an ECS moves anyway. Don't forget there no such thing as a 377/387 either, it's all 375.

700s are DV units, would be silly to not run them under hier own power on cleared routes. And the NLL has always been a route for 700s to be moved ECS.
