    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

From experience of travelling on the network a member of staff can deter anti social behaviour. This is especially applicable with younger teenage passengers or semi drunk passengers. They also provide assurance for elderly / vulnerable passengers. There will be times when an individual may...

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

They are sub contracted security staff, they aren't far off being agency in terms of T&Cs. As they are subcontracted TOCs don't need to pay holiday, sick or maternity pay not to mention pension contributions. Good for dealing with anti social behaviour but packing trains with these instead of...

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

I use both Northern and Wirral lines to get to work. I travel from Crosby to Birkenhead, always see Northern Guards but never Wirral line. This makes sense now why that is, thank you.

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

How long is that employment for? Once this dispute is won plans are already underway to target the stations next. Contactless travel and banks of ticket machines will replace ticket offices. RPI, Driving and OBS will swallow up some of the 220 but not all. Some will go to stations and have a...

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

The Wirral line loop is completely closed of a weekend at the moment until June (Unless they already have an agreement in place especially for Aintree weekend)

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

Yes without doubt. Would Merseyrail members accept what Southern have offered?

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

Not sure about that. Local commuters who use the service every day would much rather a strike impact out of towners on a Saturday. How do I know? Well I am a commuter and have heard numerous conversations during my commute over the last few days along the lines of 'If they do the Saturday I'm...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

Late notice is within 2 hours. Had that confirmed today.

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

There is a copy of the agreement floating around on twitter if you check ASLEFs mentions. OBS will be PTS trained as mentioned above, slight tightening of the circumstances in which trains can run DOO and further upgrades to CCTV / Monitors. Vote was tightish last time, I think this might just...

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

Difficult if impossible given the budget cuts for Liverpool City Region and demands from RMT. Reality is the local council is having another £90 million cut from its budget, they have to reduce costs. DOO is a useful way of shaving £8 million a year. Merseytravel are funding their trains...

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

A Guard on my commute home said talks had been agreed today, supposed to be taking place early next week.

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

Arriva operate the local buses in Liverpool, they've been supplying them with buses whilst the track renewal process has been progressing. I was told today unfortunately they had none available for Merseyrail to use as they were to be supplied for Northern routes. Makes sense with Arriva running...

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

If ever there was a place that would see drivers not crossing picket lines it was going to be in Liverpool. ASLEF should already be around the negotiating table, they never should have put their drivers in this position. A pretty grim day for us commuters but surprised at level of support this...

Liverpool Disruption 28 Feb 2017 - RAIB report released 30/11/17

I would think the permanent fix which they say will be done at a later date will be done when Lime St closes for planned upgrade work? This would keep disruption to a minimum.

http://www.merseytravel.gov.uk/about-us/media-centre/news/Pages/Liverpool-City-Region-leaders-respond-to-result-of-RMT-ballot-for-Merseyrail.aspx He already has. Think it's time I invested in my own transport again. Can't afford to use Merseyrail now with 3 years of strike action ahead.

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

I agree. As a regular Merseyrail traveller I fully support having a second staff member onboard. Anti social behaviour is rife in some areas on the network. The bean counter in me thinks it may be more cost effective to run services with hired security staff for these flashpoint areas.

    RMT dispute on Merseyrail

As part of the new rolling stock agreement with Merseytravel one of the conditions was no redundancies as a result of displacement. Rates of pay protected from what local media say. 200 odd Guards down to 60 onboard staff? Tricky to find 140 extra posts if rumours are true about quieter...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

If you are in a Guards position already you're probably ok medium term in some sort of capacity. Most companies looking to run down the Guards grade have all guaranteed continued employment. Put yourself forward for any courses they offer, keep your nose clean and ensure you are a valued...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

http://www.aslef.org.uk/article.php?group_id=5339 ASLEF seem to think second person will be safety critical.
