That proposed timetable for the 35 seems like insanity - 5hrs 30 minute runs from Aberdeen to Inverness, with what looks like a 17 minute turnaround at Inverness.
All companies accept the senior railcard for discounts on all tickets. You can use Club 50 to get discounts on off-peak fares in Scotland, plus ScotRail only advance fares

I've actually just come back from Brussels. I had loco hauled stock on my train from Charleroi to Brussels (it carried on to Antwerp), and from Brussels to Brussels Airport (I think it might have come from Oostende). There's also plenty of late 70s trams (I found them on route 51 from Brussels...
Which ones charge? I know Avanti, LNER, Scotrail, XC, Northern, TPE, TfW, LNWR, SWR and LO definitely don't charge, and I travel with some pretty big dogs
You're correct that Reading and Oxford come before Leamington. However, there's a less frequent service running between Oxford and Manchester than usual - they're running approximately every two hours instead of every hour. You can probably expect your train to be very busy.
And it's an absolute cracker of a match at Dens Park - 3-3 at half times - both teams have had the lead, with Queens Park equalising on the brink of half time.
The massive reduction to the 32 (Johnstone - Kilbarchan) hasn't gone down well here, although I am hearing vaguely positive things from those around me about the re-established link between Johnstone Castle and the RAH.
I know of two trains a day that run from Nottingham via Melton Mowbray avoiding Leicester. You also have Bottesford station which is in Leicestershire.
