Train fire between Lee and Mottingham.

Yes, move away from the fire, but not walk unattended up a railway line. The driver told pax to move down the train, so they would be away from the fire at the back - but they just ignored him, got off and walked on a possibly live railway line with possible traffic, unattended to the next...

Train fire between Lee and Mottingham.

http://www.btp.presscentre.com/Media-Releases/BTP-appeal-for-witnesses-after-train-fire-Mottingham-rail-station-1ada.aspx States 2 men were seen "running from the scene" and remains of an object have been found on the line and are being forensically tested. I hardly think the BTP are going to...

Train fire between Lee and Mottingham.

Well, its half true. Yes an object was put on the line and did cause damage - why the BTP have launched an appeal - what the object was is unknown.

Train fire between Lee and Mottingham.

And of course, if for example a DMU comes round a bend, not knowing there is an incident on the line - a good few people could be killed or seriously injured - and it will all of course be the fault of the TOC and Network Rail - not the fault of pax who think they have a great knowledge of railways.

"Massive shake up of Sussex train services announced"

Would never happen, these trains go from Brighton - which is a 4 minute ride away !!

    Westfield @ Shepherds Bush

Its a great place, but yet this is even dwarfed by the other Westfield in Stratford. Its totally changed the local area and has brought so many extra people to the area, and from a rail perspective - increased WLL footfall by a huge amount !!

Train fire between Lee and Mottingham.

Always thought the Networkers had a couple of posters in each carriage, of course if they cant be clearly seen the Southeastern need to get that sorted out. Of course it isnt selfish to move, but walking unattended along a potentially live railway line without being told to by any railway...

http://www.btp.presscentre.com/Media-Releases/BTP-appeal-for-witnesses-after-train-fire-Mottingham-rail-station-1ada.aspx BTP have launched an appeal for witnessed as it is believed the train struck an object. 2 people were seen running from the scene. Seems it isnt a fault on board the train then.

Train fire between Lee and Mottingham.

The train was in South London - people would have forced doors open and is now common as people are purely selfish. As someone else has pointed out, signs are on the trains in case of emergencies - if there is a fire, you move into the next coach - not force open the doors and not bother to...

Train fire between Lee and Mottingham.

Wouldnt surprise me if the PA system was down, and the main priotity of the driver is to get a block put on the lines, lay detonators and notify his control room/signallers to request emergency services. Only after that can evacuating take place. Looks like it was 2 units joined together, so i...

Brighton bus company buys office block for depot

Just moving their Conway Street (Hove) depot and HQ to Hollingbury basically, other depots would be unaffected. Agreed it will make running the 5B easier, but it wouldnt really help the 6 and 7. The 7 maybe could move to Whitehawk, but i would have thought to create space there, some routes...

    SWT Potential Olympic Strike

Never knew SWT were HIRING extra rolling stock for services. Most TOCs are hiring extra staff for the Olympics and are running extra services. Of course if current staff havent been told about the plans, are being told they have to work extra hours without any notice - then that isnt really...

Train fire between Lee and Mottingham.

Looking at the pictures, i believe the train is stuck on the bridge over the Sidcup Road - could be wrong of course. Makes for good access by the emergency services.

Train fire between Lee and Mottingham.

Looking at the location and with the embankment - it does look as is the 3rd rail would be on the other side. Police and Fire Service on scene according to Twitter. Would have though the power would be shut off by now too.

Jumping in front of a train or not

Been another PHBT at Maidenhead this evening - was a good few days last week where there wasnt any for a good few days and it does look like incidents are reducing. Fortunately i have never witnessed an incident like this and nor would i ever want to - no idea how i would react myself.

    Flooding in South-East England (11/06/2012)

Take a lot to cover the whole rail !! But yeah the general cables going into the rail could get covered. This is a picture posted on Twitter at Nutbourne (between Chichester and Havant) -

"Massive shake up of Sussex train services announced"

Taken a while for The Argus to have an article on it. Direct connections to the ECML and Cambridge etc can only do good. Just keep the FGW services and possibly have the Southern MKC service extended back down to Brighton and its all good again.

    Flooding in South-East England (11/06/2012)

I dont believe the problems with flooding are down to having a 3rd rail, its simply because the South-East is having incredibly bad weather (although my little corner of East Sussex seems to of escaped). Problems occur when the track circuits are flooded - as is whats happening at Potters Bar...

Trent Barton Press Statement after Passenger Raped after being kicked off Bus.

The way that story is written is pushing the blame on the bus driver, basically saying its his fault the woman was raped basically. Stupidly written article to me, not as if the driver of the passengers knew what was going to happen. Not just the driver who couldnt of been a bit more lenient...
