Just wondering...
The ECML between Darlington and Durham has several curves in it. Were these because of nimbyism, or was the track built like that for geographical reasons?
Looking through this thread and the one linked earlier it seems that a few extrta sets going to XC is a good idea.
I regularly travel between Newcastle and Bristol and I find the Voyagers cramped and uncomfortable and they get easily overcrowded - there are ALWAYS people standing - often for...
Another favourite Matilda moment from the old wars was that she continued to attack a contestant's robot after cease had been called. Craig Charles leaned over the gantry and pointed at her and yelled: "Matilda - you cease when you're told!" as if he was scolding a naughty pet!
Cut to a shot of...
It was a pleasure to pop along and meet everyone and to show you some of the sights of the beautiful City of Durham.
Thanks to everyone who arranged it and looking forward to next time :D
I enjoyed the new series too. The original series was a big hit with my university friends and me back in the late 90s when we'd all crowd round my little 15" portable TV to watch it. I always loved Matilda - she was (and still is!) Awesome!
The new series didn't seem to have moved on with...
Weren't the Pacers only ever meant to be a cheap stop-gap until newer trains could be acquired?
If that is the case, isn't it the fault of successive governments to procure appropriate replacements and shouldn't everyone's anger be directed at them?
There's a guard on VTEC that often makes funny announcements that make some passengers laugh and some roll their eyes.
"...Our quiet coaches today are Coaches B and K. That's B for Be Quiet and K for Keep Quiet!..."
"...If you have a super off peak ticket for this journey, you'll find...
Is that with the new IEP trains and their quicker acceleration time or with the current fleet?
Thinking about how many times the trains have to speed up and slow down along the route, all those extra minutes would certainly make a difference.
Whenever I talk to someone in my neck of the woods about HS2, they always complain that we in the North East won't see a benefit as it's not coming here and are therefore against it.
A train from Newcastle to London Kings Cross currently takes around 3 hours, but there's one non stop service...
I remember Jacob Rees Might saying on Question Time a while ago something like: "The problem in this country is that there's always a newt, or a particle, or a decibel that gets in the way of projects that will be of huge benefit to the rest of the country. Perhaps brexit will help along those...
What does everyone think of the livery on the new Virgin Azumas?
Here's a pic from their Twitter feed that appeared late last night.
I think the train looks good, but not sure if the swirling red does it justice. I think it would look smarter with straighter lines and more solid colour.
I think the new GWR livery is amazing. It's made the 40 year old HSTs look brand new again. If you look at one of the FGW HSTs from the front and then look at a new one, the difference is incredible.
Honourable mention to Grand Central too.
I don't like the VTEC red and white. It just...
Thanks for your help. I've been on the double voyager before but in my experience it's always very busy on a Friday. Doesn't look like I've got a table, but I suspect I'll just be glad to have a seat!
Hi there
Apologies if this is a repeat of a similar question that's already been raised, but I couldn't find anything recent on the search.
I'm booked on the 13.30 from Bristol TM to Newcastle tomorrow and my reservation is for Coach J.
I assume that this will be two voyagers coupled...
I quite liked her.
I remember getting bit of a shock when she fire spoke to me, but I didn't mind her telling me to use the lift.
If you watch her carefully, when she isn't speaking, she gives little waves and winks, which is quite cute.
I think it'll be May.
What was it that Liam Fox did again? If I remember correctly, didn't he bring his friend along on a load of foreign trips with him at the expense of the taxpayer? There may have been more to it than that, but if that's all he did, I'd probably be prepared to forgive him...
