I don't know why they just done get rid of the car park and build three new bays and letter them A, B and C. Use these for the Harrogate and Aire Valley services.
Are these getting refurbished? There's a lot of tired ones around including at least two where the electronic destination blind doesn't work, so the drivers have to stick a piece of A4 paper on the front window to let passengers know which train it is and on one of the PA intercom doesn't work...
Just been in Leeds and I see the car park closes on 7th May. Interestingly to see was two 170s parked up in platform one, a 158 parked up in platform six and a 322 parked up in platform five. I presume these services are for strengthening later on in the peaks. Just seems to be a very fine...
Do you happen to know the exact platform lengths of platforms 1 to 6?
When 0 opens couldn't they just allocate 5 and 6 to LNER for the London terminators?
That gives Northern full exclusive use of 0,1,2,3 and 4. I'm not sure if this idea is a problem solver but having designated platforms...
This is the problem my first post was referring to, they leave units idle in the platform and then when one or more other services using those 1-6 platforms are running late/not to schedule in the afternoon you find trains being stacked and trains ready to depart being stuck behind a full train...
I was in Leeds the other afternoon and there were two 158s in platform 6 and a 170 in platform 5. Not sure why they were just parked there, but the stacking of trains on the 1,2,3,4 platforms is still occurring.
Something similar happened the other day. I was at the Interchange and had the choice of a late running Huddersfield -Leeds, Preston-Leeds or Manchester Victoria-Leeds, all three were coming down the hill within the space of 12 minutes. I let the Huddersfield go first 142 and got the Preston...
I have caught trains to Bradford Forster Square off platform 12 on at least three occasions now. I've also seen trains to Ilkley and Skipton go off 8 and 10.
The time it went off 12 and I asked the conductor said there was no room in the bays to park, it was from 12.
There's a lot of space when you think about between 12 and 15, I think you could just about squeeze another island out of it but that doesn't stop the problem that's occurring over on 1,2,3,4 and 5 with all the local trains having difficulty finding platform space without blocking other services.
My record is around the same on the Huddersfield via Bradford stopper.
Should of arrived at 59 and we were on time until being held outside but didn't finally get a platform and arrive until 15 past.
One final point is the platform staff could do with some retraining. Standing there and shouting at people to get off the train as fast as they can because they want to improve turnaround times is infuriating.
I don't know but it is only to get worst. Leeds urgently needs more capacity to deal.with the increase in passenger numbers and services.
What is pretty noticeable is that trains coming in off the Bradford branch, Airedale and Harrogate lines are being forced to stop and wait longer at the...
Will the new platform at the Western end be enough? Earlier today I was in Leeds attempting to get home when chaos ensued. Firstly, my train on platform 2c was minutes away from departure when my train was blocked by a train in front which didn't have a platform available to come in to, so took...
It was last night.
I only posted because the Leeds/Bradford route is busy right up till the last trains of the night with the exception of the last departure after midnight.
I’d love to know Northern’s thinking why they think a 153 is deemed suitable for such a busy corridor.
There’s no...
Same with the Leeds - Bradford one. Sounds like tonight might be an isolated incident but you would hope Northern running these services take note of the heavy loadings.
