Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

It should be remembered that even reducing the gap has huge benefits for huge groups of people parents and carers with children, those who are less mobile or those with luggage. All of this helps to keep trains to timetable and drive passenger use by increasing confidence.

    Ipswich Platform 1

Why is it allowed on triple traction but not single?

    Cross-Country Catering and Poor PR

Ironically Greater Anglia are trialling a trolley service on some off peak services between Norwich and Stansted.

    What is the sixth? 2 x LST, 2 x KX fast, 1 x Norwich

    Cambridge South new station opening

Isn't it likely that existing arrangements for rail replacement will remain. Express services between Cambridge North and Royston and then separate buses calling at all stations which would include Cambridge South. Shuttle trains between Cambridge North and Cambridge.

Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

Is the acceleration performance of the 755’s good enough to support the Ipswich to Cambridge service always stopping of Kennet and Dullingham rather than alternating?

Unmanned stations without a working TVM?

If the TVM isn’t working then is the next available option the station you plan to alight at or the next station the train calls at with working facilities?

    Delay repay query

I am interested to know where I stand here. I booked a return ticket from A to D. On the return it should have been A to B - TOC 1 B to C - TOC 2 C to D - TOC 3 Before reaching C I find there is a problem with my onward journey C to D - the train is cancelled. I check with platform staff and...

Lack of train crew on Great Northern?

What was the issue today? I was at Cambridge and departed around this time and didn't see any disruption.

Lack of train crew on Great Northern?

Is there a reason trains couldn't be shunted into the sidings keeping platforms free? Yes it would perhaps delay service recovery but there has to be a limit on how many platforms can be occupied especially given blocking any through platform is far worse than say the bay platforms.

Lack of train crew on Great Northern?

Are the staff at York overloaded with work so just unable to be across everything or is it a loss of familiarity and experience with a route to know the best way of resolving an issue on a real world basis rather than a headcode basis?

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

I think the challenge that adds is a return to splitting and joining most services at Cambridge as Cambridge North and beyond towards Kings Lynn I believe can only be eight car.

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

Yes certainly at the weekend trains from Kings Cross to London are packed. You need to encourage some use of the capacity on the Liverpool Street line or lengthen services

    Cambridge North

I was travelling from the South so did use a GA service but that is half as frequent. I asked staff and they told me that immediately.

    Cambridge North

Thanks. It is a shame that all three platforms can't be used in both directions but two is better than one. It's a shame GN services didn't run up to Cambridge North using platform two.

    Cambridge North

Can platforms 1 and 2 at Cambridge North operate in both directions? Today sadly service was unable to operate beyond Cambridge North for the afternoon peak. Great Northern were terminating service at Cambridge rather than running to Cambridge North. Given no trains could run further north...

Greater Anglia: potential timetable improvements, additional rolling stock & cascades?

Presumably they'd have a few 3's for Sudbury and also the triple traction unit on Norwich to Liverpool Street. It would be a clear success if this was needed but how expensive is it giving I presume it also changes the engine setup. Would it be a worthwhile order? Presumably none of the 4s...
