Why do they require a driving license? I haven't seen that on any other train driving job adverts

Although ultimately still a good salary, the job is a guard, revenue inspector, shunter and driver, with a license that cannot be transferred too. LU revenue are on £55,000+ as it is, and drivers obvious much more. Depends on how you look at it. However as discussed in previous DLR threads...

Unless policy has changed, while Train Operator positions are advertised externally VERY, VERY rarely, they can appear externally.

I'm a bit confused with the mentions of different training and shorter courses. I see you can move depots after 2 years... but does the training here mean you are considered as a "Qualified Train Driver" if you were to apply for such jobs at other TOCs?

Wouldn't they have to deal with more abuse from evaders?

I already am. I'm current at SWR, and while it's an awful company, the recruitment was actually half decent. I even had a phone number I could call. So they're not all as bad as each other. MTR(EL) are also awful but at least will eventually reply to your email, even if it needs a poke. C2C were...

Wow, recruitment has now stooped so low that we don't even get replies that we're unsuccessful? Sounds like an awful company. What is it with recruitment in this industry? I emailed on the 29th of April asking if there were any updates or when I could expect to hear any. No reply. Madness...

Funny how recruitment teams do so much to filter out applicants, expect the most from them, and if we were unprofessional, we wouldn't be picked... yet recruitment (across many companies) is as poor as you describe. Sad really.
