Trainee Train Driver (London)

Good Afternoon I'm 18 years old this November I'm looking to find a Train Driver Apprenticeship in London I've been struggling to find one and not sure on any leads where to look I don't have any solid experience as a train driver if you any apprenticeships as a train drive in London let me know soon as possible thank you or if you have a better understanding as in the positions i should take being 18 years old and what to do to achieve this role, much appreciated.

Train Driver minimum age is 21. You can apply earlier but you need to be 21 to drive a train.

On London Underground the minimum age to be a driver (or Train Operator as they are known) is 18, however you can only apply internally from within London Underground. The DLR have onboard Passenger Service Assistants who drive in an emergency but are customer facing otherwise, they may recruit from 18, I'm not totally sure.

The minimum age for mainline drivers to drive on their own licence is 21, however getting in the door these days at that age will be difficult. The average age for a trainee train driver these days is mid-late thirties. I was mid-twenties when I started and was the youngest on my course. Remember, you're only allowed to fail the aptitude assessments for mainline driving once, so use your attempts wisely.

Unless policy has changed, while Train Operator positions are advertised externally VERY, VERY rarely, they can appear externally.
