I had the same decision, though mine was between Greens, Labour (safe) and a random anti-corruption campaigner. Greens are wrong on a lot of things (HS2, the monarchy...) but I too wanted them to have higher poll numbers for post-election arguing.

I use a mindmapping tool called "Dia". It's freeware. You do have to do it all manually though, but I at least have a database set up that calculates what size everything is, what needs to be connected, etc.

Leading up to the general election we just suffered, the polls were clear - neither Labour nor the Tories would be a majority, and while Tories would likely be a plurality their vote share was roughly the same as Labour. Judging by the current results, the Tories had a 6% advantage in the end...

You're quite right on that, and for me, if there is a small silver lining to this election, it was in Douglas Carswell's victory speech in which he called for and end to the current voting system. The situation is worse than you stated - UKIP got more votes than the Lib Dems and SNP combined...
