    Pubs In Brussels/Bruges

Yes 't Poatersgat is worth a visit, it is directly across the road from Comptoir des Arts in Vlammingstraat, although it has become one of the bars of choice for local students so can get quite noisy especially at weekends, Another newish place worth visiting during the day for a quiet drink is...

    Preserved Diesels during the ban

Wasn't 20227 the first preserved diesel to work a railtour, The Metro Gnome, on 7th May 1994, which it worked with Sarah Siddons over various parts of the Metropolitan line, including out to Amersham.

    F1 2012

I certainly think (hope) that the McLarens will be able to challenge for more wins and I think that Mercedes may have moved closer to Ferrari, although this may also be that Ferrari seem to have had a few problems with the new car. I think how the different cars cope with the changes to the...

    Sports

I'm into motorsport. I prefer motorcycle racing, MotoGP, WSB, BSB etc. to car stuff, although I watch most car racing as well. I make parts for motorsport teams at work, including F1 teams so I have something of a professional interest.

    Football

DarloRich, a great piece, getting some good comments on one of our sites, www.gasroom.co.uk, which is a Wycombe Wanderers site. You are in a position we could easily find ourselves in, we have big debts and falling gates, added to which is an owner who doesn't seem that interested and has...

    Imminent Industrial Action

I work for an engineering company and haven't had a pay rise for nearly 6 years, and our bonus scheme finished some years before that, and I actually gross less now than I did 20 years ago. However I do at least have a job. Do I have any sympathy for those going on strike this week, not in...

    Eurotunnel

We use the tunnel several times a year. When making your booking if you give your car registration number they have cameras that read your number plate, and start the check in process for you, makes it quicker, when it's working ok. There are toilets onboard but we tend to use the ones in the...

    RIP Marco Simoncelli

The former 250cc world champion was killed during the Malaysian MotoGP race today. He ruffled a few feathers with his hard riding style but was starting to smooth things out. I'll miss the hard charger with the big hair and the big grin.

    Favorite Deltic

That was mentioned, but it is a a fair bit heavier than a normal door and an awkward shape. Although my wife is also interested in railways, that may of pushed things a bit too far :D

    Favorite Deltic

Mines No. 7 as well, gave me some great runs on the ecml. I ended up buying one of it's cab doors from Collectors Corner when it was scrapped.

    Beer Festivals

I tend not to bother too much with beer festivals in this country anymore, but do go to ones in Belgium. Favourites are Kerstbierfestival, this is the Christmas beer festival held in Essen to the north of Antwerp, and Alvinne Craft Beer Festival held at the Alvinne brewery and features, as well...

Commuters say new Chiltern line is 'misery'

I think one of the things that doesn't help is that Chiltern would often run a 165 + 168 on some services, which helped to boost capacity with a 3 car 168, but that isn't really viable with so much of the route cleared for 100 mph.

Commuters say new Chiltern line is 'misery'

There have certainly been some problems. Chiltern themselves admitted things hadn't gone well. There have been problems with the new infrastructure, point and signal failures, but these seem to be getting sorted. The main problems have been with overcrowding, not just peak times. They have...

    Evergreen 3 Phase 1

I think there could be problems over all Chiltern services if passenger numbers increase over the whole route, not just on the southern part, as I don't think that they have enough stock to cope with much more than a small increase in numbers, and I can see the Oxford direct services bringing a...

    Evergreen 3 Phase 1

My wife commutes from High Wycombe to Marylebone and she says that the big problem is getting on some of the trains, especially returning from Marylebone. She has had to let trains go and try for the next service simply because she couldn't get on the train, let alone get a seat. I can only see...
