Evening all,
About 15 minutes ago (2315), I saw an ATW 175 pulling in (judging by the slow speed) to Stoke-on-Trent station from the Manchester direction.
Had a look on the live departures/arrivals and saw nothing so assume it must be diverted on its way to somewhere.
Any idea where...
Ok, a new single it is in the morning I guess.
I'm not overly concerned about the 'stopping short' aspect, but if I were to get pulled up on it when I go through the barriers, there is always the excuse of going for a fag break - I wouldn't expect anyone would come to 'supervise' me in that...
Quick query relating to my next trip down to Sheringham...
I have booked a train from Liverpool Street at 2030, changing at Norwich onto the 2247 to Sheringham (or something around those times).
The Sheringham section is unreserved.
I don't intend on continuing to Sheringham that...
It regularly arrives at Stoke packed to the rafters with plenty waiting to get on in both directions. Quite often results in a two or three minute wait while everyone squeezes in.
When I saw it one day a couple of weeks back, it came in from Crewe rammed with probably a couple of dozen...
I caught the 2230 Euston - Birmingham (and Wolves) a few weeks ago, ended up sat at Milton Keynes for a good 15-20 minutes because of an early arrival (despite a 5 minute pause just outside Euston) - I assume it gets routed via the slow lines on occasions which would eat into that extra time?
Went down on the 0655 from Moor Street yesterday (for only a quid :D), left Brum and Solihull reasonably busy, but then filled up quite a lot at Warwick.
Arrived about 5 minutes late I think, which wasn't too bad considering a number of speed restrictions and coming to a stand for a minute or...
As far as I'm aware there is only the one diagram on the Chase Line that uses a 153 these days. I don't think I've seen that for a while either to be honest.
It seems to be mainly 2 car 170s and the one 3 car. I wouldn't have thought the Chase Line uses much more than 5 units anyway...
I must say I felt slightly agrieved the other week when finishing work at 9.30 (having started at 5.30 and been awake since 3.45) when I was presented with a bus packed with, for the most part, people who hadn't paid while I was paying nearly a fiver to stand.
Felt like asking one of...
I had assumed it wasn't a valid route, and presumed - as the last train is quite early between two towns 10 miles away - there are probably quite a few who use such a route in the evening which is why it was readily accepted.
I do peruse the routeing guides and the like from time to time, its...
That £7 is a large amount on that fare though...
Never mind.
On the subject of Stoke and Crewe... A few months back I was travelling from Crewe back to Stoke, but the last direct train had gone. Checked on the National Rail journey planner and it told me to go via Stockport (!). I followed...
Are Stoke - Birmingham tickets valid via Crewe?
It would seem odd as there are plenty of direct services, its a fair diversion and is nearly half the price of a Crewe - Brum return...
There is still one service a day which operates Walsall to Wolverhampton direct...
Oh never mind, are you saying that's why its a more reliable source?
That would make sense I guess.
How come the plates are already in situ, albeit on the reverse of the signal post.
There's a few uncomissioned signals along the Walsall line which don't have a plate on them.
Somewhat related to this, I have a query about the letters on a signal plate I saw a few weeks back.
Was along the Camp Hill Line and there were a few new signals, which had not yet been 'commisioned' (were black bagged, etc and no plate), however on the back of these signals was a plate...
I heard that announced as I passed through New St this afternoon that the Piccadilly to Bournemouth was 30 late due to being delayed earlier at Bristol.
Thought it a bit strange, I'd have though with it being delayed by nearly an hour into Piccadilly they would've terminated it at Macc like...
Got a nice prompt (relevant) reply after having a word on Twitter...
Apparently not all fares are loaded onto the system they use to excess tickets, which would explain why it was not possible to excess to the Metrolink. Although, as the person I dealt with didn't show much interest in the...
