The package needs considering. The components of that package may contribute differently to the overall whole.
My view is that a great electric traction package has been put under a mediocre shell, and fitted out poorly. That mediocrity has then been purchased at a premium price, and made...
It was a “specialist” brand that was harder and harder to tell apart when visiting the shop warehouse. I predict Carphone Warehouse will follow suit before long
I’ll be interested to see how this plays. Those directly involved have been pushed to the side, while the actual claim is not about personal enrichment in the form of previous lobbying scandals.
Much depends on whether the wider public see it as “Reform don’t think the rules apply to them”, or...
As did all the electrical retailers. I remember buying a fridge from one (now gone) chain, and the salesman being really pushy about the guarantee until my wife made it very clear that we were happy to self-insure for the failure of a fridge freezer
A matter on which I would never go to a tin shed, of any kind. However untrained the Currys staff are, I very much doubt that Comet (or whomever) would know enough about the detail of the specific set-up to be willing to advise, even if they had the general knowledge.
I agree with the general conclusion. However, at a detail level, I can see why there may be advantages on what is now a multiple unit railway of not having to use the eastern exit from Leeds for all services, and instead having some traffic between Leeds and the NE take the Harrogate route.
Comments like this completely undermine my confidence in the other arguments. The line was making a profit if you count the income from the large customers that were a) handled centrally and b) have now closed down. I know advocates are supposed to use the rule of best evidence, but this is...
A step is also much more of an issue for mobility when needing to go through a train. The ramp is a better answer, but still a compromise. But level boarding is highly desirable for so many - not just "the disabled".
I am proud to be a trustee of an organisation that has such policies and hasn’t needed to go hard on enforcement. But managing change in hearts and minds isn’t always easy, especially in small organisations where the worst offenders may also be key volunteers.
Ultimately, the organisation...
Personal tastes vary. At 6'6" I find airline seats unbearable at all times, but found the extra thickness of the 745 and 755 seats made for a much more relaxed journey over the IETs that I'm used to.
I didn't comment on ride as I sat over the articulated bogie on the Flirts, so didn't get a...
At the weekend, I travelled a reasonable distance for the first time on Greater Anglia Flirt units - both a 755 and a 745, and for similar journey times to my normal IEP journey. The difference in comfort was stark - and reinforced my dislike of the IET
As a trustee of a volunteer organisation, that policy work is often competing with a myriad of other things, all of which are urgent. And where behaviours are deep rooted, the policy work is only the starting point - changing hearts and minds is a major challenge
But Brunswick was built for a different purpose, serves a different catchment, and makes use of an existing inner suburban corridor. Edge Hill has a fundamentally different context and the gains you suggest would rely upon other very significant changes
I'm sure it is tied to both cost cutting and the availability of resources. That doesn't alter my central point - with other changes. we've lost significant capacity
