That's three early journeys on the 60 missed. Also a couple on the 13. Not a good start to 2026 and their promise of doing better to the local politicians
I was with First in Livingston from 2002 and it ran buses on all four of the holidays on contract to West Lothian Council and also ran the Larbert 38 from Linlithgow to Edinburgh. Drivers were asked to volunteer, then it was last in next to fill the rota.
the 29 was cut back well before Lothian Country came in. First 800 replaced most of the route and it was cut back to Bathgate going past Armadale dog track, then it was cut back to Avonbridge. The X18 followed the First 20 route between Edinburgh, Broxburn. Bathgate and Armadale.
Not all. Lothian may have been cheaper on single tickets as long as you did not cross a zone line, First was cheaper on day and weakly tickets. Both Lothian Country and First were losing money when they came in and they were sharing the drivers, hence shortages and service cancellations. Bus...
Since Midland Bluebird has acquired the new Yutongs there does not seem to be any spare buses. Even the Streetlites which were at Livingston are being operated from Larbert. What has left the fleet?
Ye I agree that Lothian were economical with the truth. When they started the X18, there were adverts on the radio and in local papers stating that new buses were coming to West Lothian to operate it, which turned out to be the ex Londons with personal registrations to hide their age.
Only two buses being shown running on bustimes, both at just after 9 am athough they have been running all day.you never had this problem when they were shown under Bright Bus.
Bustimes us confusing me. They have put all the Big Bus Tours under Midland Bluebird, but they are not tracking. Why can't the put all the Livingston operations under one heading? Hopefully when the new Yutongs arive at Larbert they will be able to transfer some buses to Livingston to stop them...
