Almost got trapped inside Leamington Spa station for the night

They did in my day. Been there, got the t-shirt etc. Please drive from Buckinghamshire to Solihull and unlock the station.

    Passenger Assist Issue

That's the level of mess I feared we might be in. Yet another thing to be sorted out and brought to parity by GBR, eventually. 1740928373 Agreed on all points. 1740928546 That is one way of looking at it. Another is that it would make the railway accessible to a broader range of passengers and...

    Passenger Assist Issue

You can indeed suggest it. It doesn't reflect particularly well on you, but you are free to say it. My reaction, after many years in this industry, is that we could and should do much better than this.

East-West Rail (EWR) countdown to entry into service

I suspect it is more likely to be a bespoke EWR livery rather than Chiltern livery though.

    Passenger Assist Issue

Not a nitpick at all. It all seems rather discriminatory.

    Passenger Assist Issue

There is a polite way of doing it, but more pertinently, a correct time to do it; i.e. at the time of booking.

    Passenger Assist Issue

A family member recently had a issue with a booked "assist" at a London Northwestern station. She was travelling with luggage and a baby in a pram and required help with the luggage whilst changing trains. She was met by two members of station staff on arrival, who took one look at the pram and...

Chiltern disruption near Marylebone (20 February 2025)

Presumably something of a faff to arrange though? Given the issues upthread.

Chiltern disruption near Marylebone (20 February 2025)

Not sure a 68 set can stop at West Ruislip. It's only a 6-car platform so you'd have the loco and the DVT hanging off either end. If the guard's door is just on the platform it might work, but there certainly isnt a car stop board in situ to facilitiate this.

145 years since the Tay Bridge Disaster

An awful disaster indeed. I have a fragment from one of the piers.

    Power mad staff

Six pages in and still people are trying to defend the indefensible. It doesn't matter whether Borgeoise was in the right or in the wrong. Whatever the circumstances, whatever the provocation there is no excuse for this sort of aggressive approach. Neither this staff member nor anyone on here...

Should all trains services stop for 2 minutes on Remembrance Sunday?

There are some activities that cannot be interrupted by remembrance day silences, and the operation of train services is one of them. It is a matter of practicality, not lack of respect.

Tube driver filming himself whilst driving

As a general rule TfL, or at least the Underground part of it, has tended to be more relaxed about what goes on in cabs than is the case on most TOCs. I remember being very surprised to find out a decade or so ago that LU drivers could apply to have family/friends join them for a cab ride. I...

    GWR 'Turbo' Headcodes Displayed

No, the destination font size is unchanged. It just leaves the number field blank.

    GWR 'Turbo' Headcodes Displayed

You can suppress the route number (on Chiltern units at least) by entering "00" as the first two digits. It just comes up blank on the display.

    Toilet breaks?

If you need to go, you need to go. If that causes a delay than that's unfortunate but unavoidable, and you won't be taken to task for it. Deliberate dehydration is a very bad idea. I guess if you have chronic, severe bladder issues your suitability for the job may be questioned, but for people...

Looking for Chiltern Trains seating plans Clubman 168?

There are four subclasses of 168, and the seating layout differs between them. The 168/1s and 1682/s have a basically similar layout. The 168/0s have several differences, particularly in the way the seats are arranged in the non-driving vehicle ends. The 168/3s were originally specified by...
