I was involved in the Public Inquiry into the new stadium. Local residents were concerned that Holloway Rd tube station would have to be closed before and after matches, depriving them of their service at those times. Arsenal FC, LB Islington, LU and Met police all lied through their teeth...
I do hope that you are right. That is similar to the route that I first proposed more than 20 years ago and have been supporting ever since. Only difference is that I proposed going from MK to Luton via LB and Dunstable. That was scuppered by the Guided Busway a few years ago.
I was at the dinner where McLoughlin spoke. He didn't make any new announcement re EWRL. I think that the journalist has failed to understand what is meant by western section and central section. He repeated the standard line of western section by 2019, central section later.
The fence and gates went in about 6 months ago. I tried the gates a couple of times and they were always unlocked. I wondered whether they could be locked and unlocked remotely from a control centre.
The gates are white, its not an undercoat. I presume it is so that they stand out in the...
MK Bus User Group, of which I am a committee member, had been lobbying for several years for a toilet in Station Square. We really wanted it in the station concourse but LM refused to have one on the public side of the barrier (except for a RADAR key toilet which has recently been installed on...
Indeed. A couple of years ago I suggested to Bucks CC that this line should be re-opened and the proposed EWR MK-Ayl-HW-Mbone service should be diverted to Maidenhead via this route instead of Mbone. That would give those towns a one - change route to Heathrow via the also proposed WRATH. BCC...
Until last year LM's line had always been "we'll operate up to MK Central as soon as NR provide the track as part of Bletchley remodelling". That held for about 10 years. Last year NR completed Bletchley remodelling and MV trains could now reverse in P5 and go on to MKC. LM then changed their...
If Oxfordshire CPRE don't like a bridge at Bicester I dread to think how they would react to this story:
"HS2 is set to travel through several major British towns, such as Oxford"

He is staggeringly ignorant, even by the standard of MPs. He claimed that Stevenage and Leeds each have 4m passenger movements per year. He is right about Stevenage but Leeds has 24m pa. Only out by a factor 6!
Just got confirmation via LM that long blockades are cancelled. Here is revised schedule for 2014;
Sat 3 May to Mon 5 May
Sat 9 August to Mon 11 August
Sat 16 August to Mon 18 August
Sat 23 August to Tue 26 August
Wed 24 December to Mon 29 December
Not according to the drawings that I have seen. The port hole windows are retained. However there have been lots of changes over the 4 years that NSIP for MKC has been discussed and I don't know if there are later drawings than the ones that I have seen.
The NSIP works started last week. There are hoardings up on the overbridge and part of the ceiling has been removed. The toilets on p1/2 are being refurbished so the shed may be something to do with that.
There is very strong circumstancial evidence. There was a traveller encampment on the trackbed - I saw it there when I cycled along Sustrans route 51. Before they arrived the track was in place, after they left lots of sleepers and rails were missing.
I've travelled over it twice in the last couple of years on specials operated by Chiltern for EWRL events. Speed is limited to about 20mph.

Its a modern bridge. The road underneath was only built in 1970s. It could be built up with something like...
Why? Its an under bridge. Simply raise the level of the track on the bridge by maybe 0.5m and the parapets accordingly. The first over bridge, which might constrain the gradient, is over 1000 metres from Flyover jn.
