First class on LNER and GWR

Unfortunately, I had to get them separately, as using lner friends and family for the Lincoln to London, and from kings X to Cardiff (I did that, because I haven't bought my contactless card with me, so can't tap my way through the tube), I've used the sites ticket site to purchase (any time I'm...

Hey all, not sure if this is in the right subforum or not (please move if not admins), but next Friday, as a birthday treat to myself, I'm going to be travelling on first class from Lincoln to kings cross, and then paddington to cardiff. (Separate tickets, and both booked separately Lincoln...

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

From this photo above the split from the treherbert and Merthyr lines at Pontypridd, am I right, from looking at it, that the green block to the right of the Merthyr line, on the tram road, is an electric substation, and then the white pipes leading up to the gantry are electric lines? If so...

Former station names still in use today

I'd always assumed that it was just short for Lincoln (age 40, grew up within 20miles away)

    Puzzling question asked on train

I believe that embers25 mentioned that they are not advance tickets, and so don't have the same stopping and starting short detriment

    Puzzling question asked on train

So ticket sales are a lot more profitable for the person doing it. If they sold smart season tickets on the train, I'd buy it via them

    Puzzling question asked on train

Do you know if this is the case with TfW? There's a very split thing with the conductors (on the trains I regularly take), some check/scan every single persons ticket no matter the format, some check the paper ones but wave off scanning the e/m-tickets and smart cards, some don't check at all...

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

I think I'm going to have to keep my eyes out (and my glasses on) when I go past on the RRB each day next week, and may have to have a bike along there one day when I have my bike back (from next weekend) and stop outside and have a closer look 1685185654 Badly taken photo (with 5.5* zoom), but...

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

I was on one of the express rail replacement buses to Pontypridd the other day, and as we were on the A470 outside the depot, there looked to be a train inside, I didn't have my glasses on, but it didn't look like any of the existing valley lines trains, aany chance it's one of the new tram...

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

My question, I was walking around Pontypridd earlier - I normally walk under the viaducts, but today, I decided to walk through the car park and then over the footbridge to the station, so I saw these structures for the first time (to the north of the station, where the Rhondda line splits from...
